Painting very broadly. Also what is the North to you? You saying Iowa and NYC are the same type of people? West Virginia and Chicago?

Just in the last 10 years they beat Bama, TN and TX in bowl games.
So how is this possible?

Interesting, because one of the major narratives on this board is people shitting on Herbstreit because he was making cases for the 3-loss SEC teams and dumped on Indiana.
Which was probably marching orders he was getting from his employer.
ESPN has all of the SEC's broadcast rights, while the Big Ten is split up between Fox, CBS, and NBC. So of course ESPN wants their big name on-air analysts to be hyping up the teams whose games they have broadcast rights to.

Fans are basically quasi-NFL fans.
Buck I. Guy... I feel certain that guy never took classes there and that kind of exemplifies the problem.
That said, I hate Temple fans the most.

Ohio State has had the kind of talent on par or better with Alabama in my lifetime with so much less hardware. They should be THE standard instead of just a top program most years. The fact they never won natty in the 90s amazes me, but Michigan had their number often.
Only 1 team can be the standard. Bama/UGA/OSU have had the most talent over the last 10-15 years. Bama had the best coach potentially of all time in any college sport and from 2014-2024 won 3. UGA has won 2, and if OSU wins it will be 2. LSU has one, Clemson has 2 and Michigan won last year.
OSU has won 10+ games almost every single year since 2000. They are one of the top 2-3 programs since 2000 so I'm not sure what else you think they should be doing.

You’re probably right, but the “why” doesn’t matter. The argument was that someone said they didn’t like OSU because Herbie pimps the B1G, when in fact he did the exact opposite.

Saban wasn't a factor (except for that one game with Sparty) in the 90s when college football was arguably at its peak and when Ohio State should've won multiple titles like Nebraska. I credit them for being consistently very good to great in my lifetime and mostly avoiding down years like Bama has had, but they should be second only to Bama post-2000s and arguably better over the last 30+ years.

Beat Michigan more than once in the last 1,871 days.

There's an irrational hate for programs/teams that are successful and in the national conversation all the time.
People hate the fact that the Eagles and Cowboys are in the 4:15 time slot twice a year. And then the talking heads preview it and break it down for weeks, even when both are bad.
Duke basketball, Ohio State football, Etc.
There have been personalities that people don't like. But honestly, I don't understand the Ryan Day disdain. I could easily be jaded as a fan and alumnus of the school
I think a lot of this is fair.
I’m a big Ohio State hater, but it’s just in sports not real life.
I probably started hating Ohio when they won the MNC game against Miami (in my opinion, on a bad call.)
Then they were prompted up EVERY single year with a soft schedule. It’s not that they weren’t good, they just got exposed every time they played a decent team out of conference. Beating up on Notre Dame and Michigan during some of their worst years for almost 20 years got really old and pretending like they were contenders. It really ramped up in 2006 when they were being promoted as good as the previous teams (Texas and USC) and then promptly got their brakes beaten off by Florida.
That being said, I dislike Texas just as much, I just live around a bunch of Texas fans. This last weekend, I just wanted one of them to lose in heartbreaking fashion and was mostly satisfied.
Regarding hating successful teams, I think that’s valid. Patriots, Chiefs, Astros, Warriors were all punching bags for 30 years before they had success and they’re all fairly hated now.
I don’t however usually engage in hating on a team for modern success.
My hated teams are pretty set and mostly based off of teams I cheered for as a kid and in my 20s.
I never ever want Texas, Philadelphia Eagles, Ohio State, Lakers, Celtics, Yankees, Duke, Miami Heat, or USC to ever win in anything ever.
There are lesser ones that I’m never cheering for but I don’t delight in their downfall or losses: Notre Dame, Kansas Basketball, Oklahoma, Penn State, Florida State, Pittsburgh Steelers, Angels, Mariners.
If you asked me for a reason it would be that they beat some team I liked at some point (Heat beating Mavericks in 2006,) or kept the Rangers out of the playoffs at some point (Angels and Mariners,) got ranked too high for too long (Ohio State and Notre Dame,) or are just the rivals of my favorite teams (Philadelphia and Texas.)
Sports makes for strange bedfellows. I don’t actually hate anybody from any team or their fans.
I’ve cheered for people that hate who I voted for or what college I cheer for and would never get a beer with them and booed somebody who I share faith with and would get along great with.

They literally beat TX last weekend in the Cotton Bowl when TX was a member of the SEC

That's fair. I think it is always a dumb stat as a game from the 70s/80s has nothing to do with now.
I think in the last 10 years, OSU has been very competitive against the SEC
2014 Bama was a win
2020 Bama was a loss in a blowout
2022 UGA was a 1 point loss, but a loss
2023 Mizzou was a loss
2024 TX and TN are wins
So I kind of think that narrative can be put to bed, but it may take a bit more time

Texas Home and Home, 25, 26
Alabama Home and Home, 27, 28
Georgia Home and Home 30, 31
Who knows if the Alabama and UGA games will get played, but looks like Texas is locked in
