Why do nba players hit the top of their head when after they dunk a basketball?

Tbh I'm not 100% sure. When I played ball, that was to signal to coach "I'm tired!, take me out the game coach".

But that's obviously not the case now.

On that Lively dunk, if that's what you're referring to, it's one of those new things kids do to say 'dunked over you'.

Kind of like he's showing he got over, or dunked over, his head. They show it in slow mo at the end of this video.

When you're waterskiing it means "I'm ok" after a fall.
