It makes sense, but why aren’t there more texas rangers fans? Also isn’t Louisiana and Arkansas supposed to be cardinals country? Why not more rangers and cardinals fans?

They are represented here, they just don't have the #'s that the Astros and Braves do.

Astros have always been the primary baseball team in Texas.

Heavy southern/southeastern board.

Very heavy Louisiana representation.

Extremely heavy BR representation.

Most grew up with Houston's local station being part of the initial Cablevision lineup in late 70s (thus, Astros games). Then TBS replaced them, hence, Braves fans.

There are also a lot of Cubs fans because WGN was added to lineup in early/mid 80s.

Maybe Arkansas but not Louisiana we’re a long way from Missouri

Honestly I get why some like the Astros, when they affiliated with the Zephyrs and now because they have Bregman

But LA has never had a team, so it’s neutral territory. Theoretically like all neutral territory, it should be a Yankees state

Astros = closest team to most of Louisiana, all games used to be on radio growing up

Cubs/Braves = tons of fans due to all games being on TV thanks to WGN and TBS

Yankees/Red Sox = always on TV

those are the Louisiana mlb fan bases

Because growing up in Louisiana, the best vacation ever was coming to Houston to the water park during the day and watching the Astros play at the Astrodome at night.

How are Louisiana people that live anywhere from 2 hours to 5 hours away from Houston be Cardinal fans?

There are a few of us rangers fans here. I’ve already seen an influx of 3-4 that I’d never really noticed before this season. As we continue our rise we will have more show out of the woodwork.

Also, Astros are close to LA and a lot of LSU baws move to HOUSTON for work. Braves idk, I’m only a ‘Braves fan’ because I changed it during the WS win over HOU and never changed it back. It would be Rangers if that was an option (mods gay).

Probably picked up their fandom from their grandpaws/great grandpaws back when AM was the only option

Because they weren’t on TBS daily when we were kids.

Did this every year with my dad and my dad had photos from when he was a kid with my grandpa. Get out of school early on Friday and drive to Houston, go to game Fri night.

Astroworld/Waterworld on Saturday then game Sat night, go to Sunday day game and then fall asleep on drive home

Are Astros games even still on radio in BR anymore?

LSU’s biggest alumni base out of state is in Houston and it’s the closest MLB team to most in Louisiana; and this site was born as an LSU board.

The Braves because you pretty much saw every game on TBS back in the day so it’s a familiarity with them; same for the Cubs and WGN.

Astros used to be associated with the New Orleans Zephyrs from 97-04.

Houston is the New York City of Louisiana, so everyone in Louisiana wants to ride that Houston wagon. Atlanta is the LA of Louisiana. Same thing.

The Rangers suck historically, and even more recently with their Ownership trying to buy a World Series title.
