It’s Orgeron or Chizik both caught lightening in a bottle for one season. Coker was robbed of back to back natties and went 12-0, 11-1, 11-2 his first three seasons in Miami. Orgeron and Chizik had nothing like that.

IF you are going by record, Chizik is certainly a good choice. Plus what happened after that season did not help his cause
But, the job he did keeping the team together that year was outstanding. Needs to be recognized.

I think Stallings’ legacy hinges on three things:
1. Turning around the Iron Bowl rivalry after Bama had lost four in a row to Auburn in the late ‘80s. However, I would argue that this had as much to do with Auburn dropping a notch in the early ‘90s as Bama resurging.
2. The 1992 championship.
3. Retiring after the ‘96 season at only 61 just as frustration with fans over losses to Florida and Tennessee was starting to simmer. If he had stayed another 5+ years, I don’t know that his tenure would be remembered quite as fondly.
Beyond that, Stallings is a great man and was very much a Bama coach in terms of his demeanor. But I don’t think he was anything amazing as a coach. Bill Curry recruited some of the key 1992 pieces, and Bill Oliver was absolutely the architect of the defense.
So I would say he was a good coach, a good fit for Bama at the time, but he wasn’t an X’s and O’s wizard and if anything had sabotaged that 1992 championship (no Langham Pick 6 and Florida wins in 1992, for example) his legacy wouldn’t be anything near what it is today.

36-42 without Burrow. But that’s taking two seasons away from Orgeron’s overall record while only taking 1 from Chizik.
Take 25 wins away from just about any coach and they’re going to look a good deal worse.

He inherited an absolute monster of a program which got progressively worse the longer he was there.

It's a toss up between Chizik, Coker and Orgeron, but I think it's Orgeron because he showed the world he could coach because of the 2019 Team, then he became infamous because of the spectacle he became and how bad LSU became the next 2 years.

Doesn’t matter. Coach O would have done worse. Same for Chizik. Coker has a much better track record than either.
