Suh
Although Clowney definitely could have contended in 2013/14 but he either couldn’t stay healthy or motivated.

Ed Marinaro. /thread...
Marinaro played college football at Cornell University, where he set over 16 NCAA records. He was the first running back in NCAA history to run for 4,000 career rushing yards and led the nation in rushing in 1971.
Marinaro was runner-up to Pat Sullivan for the Heisman Trophy in 1971, the highest finish for an Ivy League player since the league de-emphasized football in the mid-1950s. Princeton's Dick Kazmaier won the award in 1951 when the Ivy was still considered a major football conference.
Marinaro won the 1971 Maxwell Award and the UPI College Football Player of the Year as the top player in college football.
He is the current holder of four NCAA records: most rushes per game in a season (39.6 in 1971), career average carries per game (34.0, 1969–71), most rushing yards per game over an entire career (174.6, 1969–71), and earliest game reaching 1,000 rushing yards (5th, 1971).

quote:Smith got it because he played for OSU. If he played for Arkansas and McFadden played for OSU, it would have been McFadden by a country mile. Heisman has always had some east coast bias. The SEC is so dominant now, they have to look at what is happening in the south.

Such a meaningless award
It’s a popularity contest driven by media especially lately
There have been plenty of deserving defensive players

Correct answer by far. But we live in a 15 minute world now.

This is an intellectually lazy take on the Heisman and one that has been repeated time and time again by someone who always thinks they're the smartest person in the room. If the award were meaningless this discussion thread wouldn't be on page seven right now.

Peyton got robbed because he was a victim of his own preseason hype and it became a popular opinion that it was time for a defensive player to win.

If you remember they could've put up 100 against CU then you should remember nobody gave them a chance against USC.
Lol
