Let’s do 2000s. This may sound crazy but I think Mariano Rivera is the best pitcher of the 2000s.

Pitcher WAR 2000-2009:
1. Randy Johnson* - 51.3
2. Johan Santana - 46.3
3. Curt Schilling - 46.2
4. Pedro Martinez - 45.6
5. Roy Halladay - 45.4
6. Roy Oswalt - 43.1
7. Mark Buehrle - 41.3
8. Tim Hudson - 40.2
9. CC Sabathia - 38.6
10. Barry Zito - 35.3
*Randy Johnson turned 36 on September 10, 2000.
Mariano Rivera's WAR was 33.1. in 713.1 innings. The others all threw at least twice that many. Rivera would top the list of WAR/IP, subject to some reasonable IP minimum.

Unit was by far the best pitcher of the 2000s but he was clearly the fourth best pitcher of the ‘90s after Clemens, Maddux, and Pedro.

Pedro was the most dominant pitcher to exist in his prime, and he did it during the height of the steroid Era.

I want to say Maddux - but his playoff numbers keep me from it.

All I know is that Randy Johnson is a big Rush fan and a professional photographer, so he's my favorite.
