Don't hurt me. I personally think 2009 Alabama was the weakest of Alabama's 3 BCS teams.

People would look at 2009 Bama much more favorably if they had a decent QB and OC that could call plays in the Red Zone. It was staggering how many times the defense and special teams gave the offense prime field position only to have the offense settle for field goals and punts time and time again. If Bama had McCarron and Nussmeier in 2009, they would have absolutely destroyed everybody that year.

What have they been doing?

Not beating 2002 Miami (in their supposed "big OOC wins) that's for sure.

Forgot about that, didn't you?

Don't discount Tressel ball.

Played down or up to competition.

That Miami team wasn't the same team as the 2000 and 2001 versions. They gave up 45 points to Virginia Tech at home. 2000-2001 Miami would never have been that porous defensively.

Jason White and imo, 2009 Bama. I totally get the 2007 LSU argument. I wonder how much better Dorsey and his defense would have been if not for that dirty chop block from that Auburn player who ruined his career.

the cases for 04 USC (Auburn should have been there) and '11 Bama (who didn't belong there) should be heard if the 2 losses is the entire argument against 07 LSU.

Jason White was good player he was just Darth Vader by the end of more man than machine. I think we hold his Sr. season and lack of NFL as a knock when it's not for that year.

Many here are glossing over 2007 LSU.

While Ohio State won those games in 2002 and with an injured or missing Clarrett in several games LSU actually lost two games to inferior opponents and like Ohio State backed into the BCSNCG in 2007.

There's a very good case to be made for 2007 LSU in this argument and unlike 2002 Ohio State they actually fall into the ten year span named by the OP.

2007 LSU was probably the most common answer in this thread.

...and it's not like they lost to all-time SEC powers.

They lost to Kentucky (3-5) and Arkansas (4-4) and gave up over 40 points in both.

That's pretty bad. But their rep was made waxing VaTech at the beginning of the season (VaTech, usual artificial inflating opponent).

And then LSU beat probably the weakest tOSU title participant teams of this era.

Still 2007 LSU seemed more talented (if not an up and down team) than 2009 Bama.

that team was pretty freaking loaded, they just had tons of injuries that year similar to SC. If healthy, we would have seen an LSU vs SC title game that year. That was just a crazy year for CFB.

2009 Bama had 27 future NFL players and 12 future first round draft picks. How were they lacking in talent?

Lmao @ Bama haters saying 09 Tide cause there were a few games they "almost lost". They went 14-0 and had wins over #2,3,10,17 an 21 in the final ap poll.

Meanwhile 2007 LSU was beat twice by 5 loss teams and beat AU,UF,Tennessee and Bama by a combined 24 points.

Good non-homer discussion!

It seems the consensus top 2 are

2007 LSU
2002 OSU / 2009 Bama (pretty split on it)
