jordan and ruth are 2 of them and anyone that says differently is an idiot. they are both sport and cultural icons.
i'd probably put ali on there as well, and Pele for worldwide appeal.

If soccer isn't allowed then Golf definitely shouldn't be allowed. There is more athleticism in Soccer than there is in Golf.

I realize that few people care about swimming outside of the Olympics, myself included. However, the way Phelps dominated an international discipline accross multiple Olympics was truly historic, and he merits a place here.
