I don't think diverse means what you think it means.

Chip is a great coach. If he leaves for the NFL, then I wish him all the luck in the world.

I hope he goes to the NFL, but to say I will root for him is probably not accurate.

this right here tells me either you don't watch much NFL or you don't understand football very well.

NFL offenses are not as diverse as college

college invents the new concepts and after a few years an NFL team adopts it, then there are copy cats

CFB has been running air raid spreads for like 15 years and they've just become popular as an option in the NFL within the past 5. the spread option is over a decade old in CFB and NFL teams adopted it in like 2007

Diversity in the average NFL playbook >>>>>>>>>>> Oregons diversity

While I agree that a single NFL team's play book is more diverse than a college team's play book, on the whole there is more diversity in the college game. Pro style of fences are fairly similar when compared to the vastly different concepts seen in the college like the pure passing of the air raid to the spread option.

Oregon ran the exact same play 3 straight times last night to score a TD before half. Oregon does stuff like that a lot, I would hardly call that diverse

Once you add in the route combinations, audibles, hot routes, line blocking schemes and everything, Oregons offense seems like Peewee football to an NFL QB

the diversity is in the formation, blocking, etc

the redskins are doing the same thing in the NFL this year

Would do damage in Philly or Carolina.

Only if they get a good D Coordinator though.

I don't mean diverse in the same playbook. I am sure the NFL's playbooks are more diverse - that is why the are pros.

Which is more different, the offenses of oregon and lsu or the offenses of new england and san francisco? That's what he meant by diversity. You are comfusing diversity with complexity. The fact that there are so many teams in cfb means that cfb will be more diverse than the nfl.

It will be interesting to see what wrinkles he will bring to the pros. The pro game is not conducive to "opening it up" too much because you're messing with players's livelihoods in the pros when you take too many chances that don't work.

Sean Payton once said in an interview that to run successful plays in the NFL you need an action that causes the LBs and safeties to pause for a split second or take a half step in the wrong direction

That is why the zone read is so successful at all levels of football. I am interested to see Kelly expand on that at the next level
