That's interesting considering there are TONS of Saints fans here in the Mobile area.
oh come on, you and I both know that the majority of the folks here didn't really care about the Saints until after 2005.
I agree with you that there are plenty of Saints fans here but lets not act like they have always followed them with some unique passion.

i just find it to be a waste of time to care about fickle teenagers' decisions.
I'm not sure what you mean by this, or maybe you missed where I said I don't get worked up about any 1 player. As for "fickle teenagers decisions", yes they can change their mind after the "verbally" committing until they actually sign. But the overwhelming majority wind up signing with the teams they commit to. sure there are some the "flip" and you hear more about those, but over all, most stick. Personally, I remain skeptical about OOS recruits until their either sign or enroll at LSU, but it is still interesting to follow.

is there some kind of coaching joke in there? Like going 34-6 over a 3 year span is not knowing how to use talent?
X's and O's don't matter if my X's are better than your O's.

It's pretty impossible to be a real fan of a college team and not be at least somewhat into. Recruiting is probably 70% of the game at the college level.
Also, considering you are signing a quarter of your roster compared to 5-6 guys who might make the team from the NFL draft it is infinitely more important than the draft?
Do you dismiss the NFL draft as well?

Another person missing the point...nobody in their right mind would "dismiss" recruiting or the draft as not being important. However, I don't care to follow it closely day-to-day. Just tell me who LSU signed/the Saints drafted after the fact and I am happy

When I was in college I followed recruiting a lot. Now I wait till somebody commits, check to see if its a guy we wanted, then go about my day.

what he said.
and while I don't dismiss the NFL draft, i also don't make it a point to care that much. i just can't get invested in caring about a guy who may or may not pan out.
again, just how i feel. not hating on anyone who feels differently.

this is a solid strategy. there are times when i know some names though and one commits and i know it's great without looking. i usually know the biggest names and that's it.

I just hope USC gets a good class and I'll look at the players who have signed since that's all that matters anyway.
I don't care enough to follow it.

did you just admit to being a recruiting hipster?

In high school and college, I was big into it. Nowadays, I really don't follow it much at all. I do like to see where local players end up so I pay some attention there.
I do find it disturbing the extremes some people go to follow these kids

Never understand people who do this.
Who cares that you don't care.. and of course you aren't ever alone. There are always haters or dislikers. I guess you needed a rallying cry, good for yall.

if you read the OP, you would see that I asked why those who like it do...so if you'd like to state why you enjoy it, i'd love to hear it

I want LSU to do well but I don't know all the ins and outs
nor would I want too. I have enough on my plate just living, adding more isn't wise for me
and IMO fandom has gone off the tracks in the last ten years or so and "recruting watchers" are the leaders of that fandom

Or that it's been about 4-5 years since ND was consistently good.

u w0t m8.
ND nearly always recruits well, that is besides the pt...
recruiting is just too mainstream now; more people=more stupid. im just a hippy i suppose.

I want LSU to do well in recruiting, but I'm not gonna lose sleep like some do all because a 17-18 year old kid changes his mind & is playing somewhere else.
I also think that it's overhyped. Having a big press conference to announce your decision while fans/media salivate over it is the reason why some of these kids can't handle success. They already know most people worship the ground they stand on before they step on a college campus.
