Well over here U-Trip and OTC are dominant so…
Not the better teams in sela. The best teams in sela are still playing 2d and pg and Nola area is only place in LA where otc has any real presence. Of the good Nola teams only Carrollton and renegades and challmette reign really play only usssa or otc.
All the better teams on north shore and BR area mainly playing PG and 2d

muscles. There’s a reason why college coaches still want to see kids play different sports throughout the year.

Here’s a secret. There isn’t a higher level of “competition” in 99% of these leagues. They aren’t getting better instruction either.
Maybe at AA level. Not even close to true at high aaa or majors level

Maybe some of small towns need to travel 20-30 miles at most. Its BS and its a scam by people trying to make money.
Now they could play Sterlington teams, West Monroe teams, Monroe teams, Bastrop, Delhi, Rayvile. They could drop down and play an Alexandria team.

This is about the parents whose retirement plan is their 12-year-old son's future baseball career. Or for the dad who needs to make new business contacts by meeting other kids' parents.

My oldest played travel ball, but we made him wait until age 13. He played regular youth league until then and we even refused to let him play All-stars during those years as we wanted him and us to have a regular summer with other activities.
Dude my kid is playing 6u ball this yr. 5 and 6 yr olds rec ball. They have a frickn allstars for this. I coach their little team, we won the league last week and they asked me to be allstars coach. I laughed and told them no, and my son wasnt playing. We meet wednesday to vote on allstars. Done had 2 diff coaches from 2 diff teams call me and say "hey are you nominating your son, i will vote for him... im gone nominate my son" i told them nominate who you want, i will vote for best 12, i dont believe in allstars at this age and im not coaching or putting my kid in it HE IS 5 YEARS OLD

My only concern is specialization at such a young age. There are so many other really enjoyable sports specifically life time sports like golf and tennis that getting involved early makes playing when older much easier. You can only do so much at one time and travel baseball involves a lot of time.

dunno how many times i have to say it...but these kids play other sports.
for 90% of teams, travel ball is over by end of june, same as all stars was for those growing up in the 90s. same as little league.

Guys that act liek females and are very very concerned how others spend their money. usually make comments about putting the money away for college...my answer to that...is why not both? sorry but it isnt going back to the way it was. HS baseball is being played at a higher level than ever before and there is a reason for that. kids come in more prepared than ever.
After reading about 1/2 the thread it’s pretty apparent that you are a giant loser with an obnoxious amount of time on your hands. Your kids that will despise you when they’re grown because you didn’t allow them to have a normal childhood. I really hope this is a series of trolls.

I love this. 13 is a great age to decide to stick to one sport and dig in and really develop. Age 7 or 8 is not.
Nail on the head

It would be helpful if you ended each post with "in Lake Charles" because it's clear (to your positive credit) that y'all do it right down there. Other areas could learn from y'all.
Because many coaches are telling their players they can't play any other sports while they are playing travel ball... so that 2-3 fall tournaments knocks out football and starting practice in January knocks out basketball and soccer.
If everywhere ran travel ball like y'all ran it... there would be no controversey and no need for threads like this =)

There are a handful of teams that keep playing. But you can count on one hand that do. Maybe 2-3?

That’s ridiculously insane
Mine just started playing last season. This year is his 2nd year playing. And when I was looking for someone and someone picked him up, I told them that he’s going to play something else. Luckily, he shuts things down in June and encourages other sports.

dud i have tried to tell some of the teams they need to stop all that fall ball BS and just practice 2x a week in the fall and dedicate last 15-20 min to strength work. but they dont listen. They all think they are falling behind if they dont play the PG fall super NITs.
but i do know most of the kids in the lafayette area play otehr sports too at the younger ages, mainly flag football and fall soccer.
and almost all travel is over by end of june across the stat as thats when most of the tournaments are over unless they are doing an out of town world series
like i know a bunch of teams going to world series in mid/late july out of town like Omaha/Pigeon Forge and many going early july to beach but those teams really are a small %.
2d/usssa/pg events are done in the state pretty much by july 4th.
are teams in nola area playing through july and august? im only really familiar with Renegades/Carrolloton and Reign but they all almost all play usssa only which is one of the worst in the state imo, only above OTC.
FTR the nola proper teams kind of insulate themselves and dont really play with the rest of the state and not a lot of high level teams. the talent is very very spread out.
IMO its less the way its done in LC but more the rest of the state outside NOLA. teams still playing too many fall games though.

We’ve played all three of those teams. Beat the renegades once but lost to the other two teams. The coaches from Carrollton are pieces of shite
They threw a 9 year old in four consecutive games, for a total of 135+ pitches in a total of two days. Got booted from the tournament
If the parents of that child had any sense, they would be looking for a new place to play

We play USSSA and OTC and shut down at the end of June

yea renegaes hasnt been that good in the younger divisions lately. ok but not great
how did they throw a kid that much? was there no pitch count rules?
or let me guess...dumbass usssa innings rule? i hate the usssa rule. pisses me off.

It was a U trip tournament so yep.
Kid was unbelievably good. Hardest thrower I’ve seen since we started and threw a ton of strikes. Hope they start to look out for his future, because people like those coaches are the main reason the douches in here are acting the way they are

should have only been able to throw couple innings each game but still its such bullshite. watched a 10 year old last year throw 110 pitch 6 inning game all for a AA tournament. i was so fricking pissed, kids elbow was dropping, velo down like 15-20%....just straight not looking out for the kid by the coaches. total bullshite.
