his is a quality over quantity one.
QBU has to be OU if they are claiming Hurts. Hurts/Baker/Kyler is more than anyone else.
If we look at quality over quantity for WRs, why not the same for QBs? Or is it a more of a let's get more than 3 starts from JD before we say Burrow & Daniels >>> Hurts/Baker/Kyler; which is a fair argument.

Tight end U - Iowa Or Stanford
I didn’t realize Stanford had that many quality TE’s in the NFL. UGA may catch up to them in the next few years

Go with history, not recent trends....just like the Blueblood arguments.
USC is still running back U....5 Heisman Trophy RBs.
It takes pedigree to be the standard....
Not flavor of the month.

You will do anything to get USC involved in a debate…back in the 60’s, 70’s yes it was RBU. But the last 30 years you have had one great one.

Its the easiest argument in this hypothesis, didn't think USC as RB U was some controversial opinion.

I thought maybe OSU had more, but they've only got 5 guys left in the league playing in the defensive backfield.
Is this true? Holy crap if it is with the run of top end guys they had over the last decade

Like I said….. 50 years ago it was…. One of the greatest performances ever was AD against ND with his 6 tds…..

Based on what? Baker was QB2 quality until he got to Tampa last year. Kyler has talent but so far hasn't had any real success with the birds.
Hurts is the only legit QB on that OU list right now with any sustained history of success.
That said, LSU doesn't make that cut either, given that Burrow is an injury magnet (which may or may not be his fault) and Daniels only has three games to his name so far.
Not sure who to go with for QBU, but it ain't OU or my Tigers. Not now, at least.

QBU
Arguments for Cal
1. Historically: Cal has produced more starting Super Bowl QBs than anyone with five: Joe Kapp, Craig Morten (who took two different teams to the SB), Vince Ferragamo (started one year at Cal before transferring), Aaron Rodgers, and Jared Goff. Alabama has four and everyone else is three or fewer.
2. Only one NFL player, a former Cal QB, has gone to five straight Super Bowls. Gale Gilbert was a backup for Jim Kelly at Buffalo on four straight Super Bowl teams, then he went to the Chargers as a backup QB, and went to the Super Bowl the first year he was there as well. In true Cal fashion however, the one NFL player to go to five straight Super Bowls was on the losing team each time. Note that this argument is tongue-in-cheek. I just thought it was funny.
3. Recently: Two of the highest paid QBs in the league right now are from Cal. And last season Goff was one half away from being the second Cal QB to take two differnt teams to the Super Bowl. He is still in a pretty good position to acomplish this. Maybe Rodgers too?
Argument against Cal
1. Five QBs, six Super Bowls, and only one win, with Aaron Rodgers. A very Cal kind of record.
RBU
I just wanted to give a shout out to Tedford-era Cal running backs.
In 2004 JJ Arrington rushed for 2,018 yards and Cal had a 10-1 regular season record, and Arrington was not even invited to New York. Players from West coast teams other than USC don't have a chance.
Marshawn Lynch (Seahawks), Shane Vereen (Patriots), and CJ Anderson (Broncos) started for three consecutive Super Bowl winners.
Justin Forsett was in the league for several years (Ravens and Seahawks).
Jahvid Best was a first-round pick who had numerous highlight plays for the Lions before his career was cut short by concussions.
Tedford produced an amazing number of quality RBs in his 10 years at Cal.

Ara Parseghian and Notre Dame up 24-6, wrote on the chalkboard at halftime....."we're 30 minutes away from winning the National Championship".
Coach McKay addressed his team at halftime:
“Gentlemen, you know that we can play better than that. Right now there are millions of people watching this game that think you’re pretty bad. They are wrong. There is no law preventing you from blocking, tackling and running hard. We start the second half with the ball. We are going to score. We will win this game. Let’s pray.”

The Tigers might have an especially strong case as QBU 5-7 years from now
With the way recruiting is going, we could be in the conversation for OLU and TEU
And heck, it’s Friday
I’ll go ahead and predict a return as the definitive DBU.
On a related note, I predict massive retirements for the coaches at our rivals due to our prowess as well as some teams jumping to other conferences to escape playing the Tigers
