NFL, MLB, and NBA. Hell, I don't know much about the NHL, but you can include them too if you'd like.

Just taking a stab at it...

NFL-Green Bay, New Orleans, Chicago, Dallas, Eagles, Steelers, Jets

NBA-Celtics, Philadelphia, Bulls, Knicks

MLB-Boston, Yankees, Phillies, Cleveland, Cubs

Those are teams with a great tradition, but you have to knock a few points off the teams that have been consistent winners lately, simply because those fan bases haven't been tested by bad times.

I'd say out of that list, the Saints, Knicks, and Cubs. Cubs are 101 years and counting without a championship. Knicks have been a bottom feeder for a long time. Saints are good now but spent most of the first 40 years--plus the last five years of the Haslett era--either sucking or finding creative ways to blow good seasons.

I was always under the impression that Boston (Red Sox) had the most loyal fanbase in MLB?

I'm a Dallas Cowboys fan. I've seen some pretty bad times the last 15 years.

NHL: Detroit, Edmonton, Montreal, Chicago, nY Rangers

You have to add St. Louis Cardinals to the list. They don't call STL the best baseball city for nothing. Even their AA team in Springfield,MO draw large crowds during the week.

I don't think it's that much of a stretch to say that New Orleans has a very loyal fanbase. They are much more loyal than our beloved LSU fanbase...

NFL:

Green Bay
Cleveland
Pittsburg
Buffalo

ALL are small market teams who sell out every game. Cleveland fans really dont get the respect they deserve because the Browns have been bad since the return in 1999. There is a reason why the NFL guaranteed the city of Cleveland that it would get its team back once the new stadium was built. The NFL didnt care when the Colts moved to Indy. The NFL didnt care when LA lost both of their teams. The NFL wont care if either team moves back to LA. Cleveland is very important in the history of football. Browns fans are the essential blue collar, industry and manufacturing fan base of football. Browns fans and Cleveland fans in general are DESPERATLEY in need of a championship. The last title was in 1946 by the Indians. I dont want to hear one Chicago fan CRY about the Cubs. The Bulls won numerous titles and the Bears have won Superbowls. Get over it Chicago and stop the pitty party and acting like you are the cursed. Cleveland fans have been suffering for a LONG time. People are dying without seeing a title in ANY sport. IMO Cleveland has some of the best fans in all of sports.

this post is hilarious

you extol the virtues of fans who support a team despite it never winning any titles

yet your sig is a rundown of Ohio State's titles

irony is delicious

seriously.

they had 1 playoff win in their entire history, yet the fan base is supportive enough it took one of the worst natural disasters in US history for anyone to even consider moving the franchise.

And then the fanbase responded by selling out every game since then.

i wouldn't say it's in the top tier of loyal sports cities but it's certainly not a bandwagon city.

The real Saints fans are extremely loyal. Throughout my 20 years of life, I've witnessed about 3 or 4 good Saints teams but have watched almost every game.
