People clown on the Big Ten West but it is the home of the quadrangle of hate. There are a lot of cross rivalries.

Iowa alone has rivalry trophies with Minnesota, Wisconsin, and Nebraska, and depending on which side of the state you live on the border wars get pretty heated. I consider them all hated rivals. I mean, Minnesota hates Iowa to the point they chant "Who hates Iowa?" at all of their games.

Add in Northwestern and Illinois and there is a lot of hate to go around.

Finally, OOC we play Little Bro ISU.

Wisconsin/Iowa and Wisconsin/Minnesota are rivals.

Surprisingly, Nebraska/Minnesota has some heat to it.

We don’t care who hates LSU because we pretty much hate everyone else.

The Big Ten, as everyone here knows, moves away from divisions next year. Each team had the opportunity for up to three protected rivalry games every year. Penn State said "Nah, we're good", they'll be the only team with zero protected games.

This isn't what happened, at all

Arkansas shared a fierce rivalry with Ole Miss back in the 60s.

It was so hated that after a controversial FG that was made, Arkansas fans said it was no good and Ole Miss fans said it was.

Fights broke out in the stadium and the series was canceled for 20 years.

Maybe ND is the closest other example?

But USC is a pretty common answer

Pretty sure there is a reason for that.

Always more than one side to every story. What's Michigan's version of the truth here?

Maybe UGA?

Nah. They have 3 named games. Even though GT split 30+ years ago, they still have the DSOR (and it's definitely a rivalry even though Auburn hasn't held their end up recently the series was dead even like 5 or 6 years ago). Then the cocktail party, not to mention Tennessee.

Speaking about just the SEC, divisions and expansion really stopped some good annual games like AU/UF and UTk. LSU and Auburn were forced into a "rivalry" after hardly playing any regular series over any length of time before divisions came along. And it's just going to get worse with the expansion starting next year. To have two states that share a border (MS/AL) and 4 teams between them not play at all is ridiculous. Bama MSU have played consecutively for a very long time and that ends next season.

USC is the other end of this. They mostly have two rivals that they view pretty equally in ND and UCLA

false

That's why they changed the lyrics to the war hymn and removed all references to Texas when they left the Big 12, right?

The entire second verse of that song is about UT. And after that you all sway back and forth singing "saw Varsity's horns off."
