Hell the area around the Niners HQ (Santa Clara and San Mateo counties) contains half of the top 20 most expensive ZIPs in the US.

south bay
lovely homes on big lots.
Great weather. Warmer than sf.

South bay is not sf.

Paying almost $4 a gallon for gas is enough to laugh at this.

but don't you make enough to be living there that this really isn't an issue?

it's not like you're on some modest 150-200k a year salary living there.

People talk about Boston sports dominance but it's absurd how good Bay Area professional sports teams have been over the 40 years. The 49ers have five Super Bowls and are working on getting their sixth, the Warriors had arguably the greatest peak run for a basketball team ever when they ran absolutely roughshod over the rest of the NBA with Curry and KD and the Giants had that great run when they won three WS in five years. Plus they had three of the greatest athletes in their sport ever with Joe Montana, Jerry Rice, and Barry Bonds at the peaks of their careers.

So, that justifies paying more than $2 a gallon for gas?

I don't live there but know many people that do and they sure as hell don't like it. I'm sure there are parts that are great just like anywhere else. Would never want to live there though.

no it doesn't justify and sure it sucks, but you're living there for a reason.
and I'd assume these are people making what? 750 to 800 in salary a year.
throw in bonus, over a mil.
$4 a gallon wouldn't be something I'd be THAT mad a bout.

I wouldn't either.

I wouldn't wanna live anywhere where I consistently talk bad about. why i moved from charlotte.

It's either really nice or really poor, not much in between the extremes. Regular folks get priced out. If you have money it's a very nice place to live, but there are also a lot of homeless.

Some may make that much but it sure as hell isn't all of them. Just one of many things wrong with that part of the country. Anyway, it is what it is.

So is SoCal.

Monterey (Carmel, Big Sur and Pebble Beach) is nice though.

Central Coast is stuck between two shitholes.
