Likely going to a day game later this summer in SF for first time. Any preferred areas to sit?

Sit in one of the raised decks down the right field baseline. It gives you the best view of the cove and the field

Don’t sit in shite since SF is covered in it.
Jk. Depends on your preference. I enjoy being closer to home plate but some folks love the outfield view.

I sat to the 3rd base side behind home plate. It was a beautiful view.

pretty much any seat minus the outfield bleachers and the ones directly up against the raised wall give you a great view. terrific ballpark for such a frick stain of a franchise

THIS.
Amazing view (and ballpark). I took this panorama from those seats:

Yep I'm mainly going for the ballpark experience so that's probably what I end up going with, not to mention that's cheaper. Tickets in general are surprisingly cheap for playing the lolDodgers. Thanks baws.

I sat in right field on the first row. It was nice. Got to see Kershaw pitch that day. Weird bench clearing and Kershaw was having none of it, walked through all of the players to get started warming up for the next inning. I'm not even sure what they were mad about. Walked up and down McCovey Cove before the game. It was fun and a very nice stadium. Garlic fries were good.
I had way more fun the next night in Oakland though. The stadium there is a turd, but the fans were surprisingly welcoming. IMO the BBQ sandwich was really good in Oakland. Don't tell me what was in it, I've read the articles about how dirty that dump is. Ignorance was bliss that night. Chris Cornell died that day and the PA played his songs throughout the game. I had a great time.

Sadly, no. It was filmed in Louisiana.
Journey filmed their video for their 1983 hit, "Separate Ways" at the old Louisa Street Wharf which is now where Crescent Park in the Bywater is located.

I feel like I've "known" that it was McCovey cove for 20 years
Thanks for the info that I should have known

I did as well, one of the Reds players even threw my daughter a ball.

Any parts of the OF/box seats get the worst part of the sun?
Nothing is worse than getting pounded by the sun, while 95% of rest of stadium are in shadows.

Midway down 1st base line was nice. Got shady later in the day.

There really isn't a bad seat in the park as it is so small but I prefer not to sit anywhere in the outfield bleachers unless you are in a big group of friends together. The best views of the Bay are in the upper decks obviously but I prefer to sit behind home plate lower or club level. Just convenience to everything.
