Brees is still a better QB right now, but Flacco is six years younger so it would be a tough call on who I would pick to start my team. Would probably go with Flacco since he probably has 10 more good years in him.

Ask any GM in football right now and they would all to a man take Flacco over Brees

Poll the 32 GMs and get back with us.

You know that Brees was 80% in his Super Bowl win? One good postseason doesn't make one great.

I'd put him at 10 right below Flacco.

I know it's not fair but had he won the Super Bowl with a flawless performance he'd probably be 6 or 7.

Lets revisit this next year when flacco is having another mediocre season while struggling to make the playoffs again

uh, no. Mobile QBs always seem to have a big 1st year, then their damage is mitigated by defenses.

I'd still have him below Rodgers, Brady, PManning, Brees

I would have him in the 2nd tier crowd. Eli, Big Ben, Flacco. I wont put the rookies in there yet.

cutler/rivers/staffy/romo/flacco seem to be about on the same level

the question is where these guys go:

quote:

Wilson
Cam
Luck

the top tier is

rogers
brady
manning
brees

without a doubt

then you have ryan, eli, ben

then the hodge podge of the young guys who may be flash in the pans, the old guys who are sliding but may rebound, and flacco/stafford

I like Luck/Wilson long term, Cam after slow start was hot during second half. Ryan looks like he may be next to step into the top 5 (although we said same thing with Stafford last year)

Tier 1:
Rodgers
Brady
Manning

Tier 2:
Ben
Cam
Eli
Flacco
Ryan

Tier 3:
Wilson
Kap
RG3 (will be too injury prone for a long successful career though imo)
Stafford (though he can't have another year like this year or he will drop with the quickness)

Brees teters between 1 and 2.

Flacco is better than brees right now...there is no comparison

Drew Brees: 43 TDs, 19 INT, 5177 YDS, 63% CMP, 96.3 QBR

Joe Flacco: 22 TDs, 10 INT, 3817 YDS, 59.7 CMP, 87.7 QBR

Outside of the interceptions, Drew Brees destroys him. Let's take a few other things into consideration; The fact that entire team was put on Brees shoulders because of Bountygate. The fact that he had the shittiest defense of all time on his team, having to force throws to catch up. How about Brees playing without Payton? You know, the same duo that put together arguably the greatest offense of all time in 2011. The season that Brees threw 46 touchdowns and nearly 4500 yards. Last season, with his coach his stats were unbelievable. And although this was a down year for Brees, it was still better than majority of the quarterbacks. Pro Football Focus graded Brees out as the 4th best quarterback this past season, right behind Rodgers, Brady, and Manning.

Flacco has been outstanding, especially in the Post Season. I will not deny that. But, Brees' level of play in the playoff is absurd as well. Much more so than Flacco.

Joe Flacco's stats in 13 playoff games:
19 TD, 8 INT, 2672 YDS, 55.5% CMP, 86.0 RTG

Drew Brees' stats in 9 playoff games:
22 TD, 4 INT, 2980 YDS, 67.0% CMP, 104 RTG

I see what you're saying though, Flacco is definitely better then Drew Brees.

This thread is flawed because where you rate him and where you would draft him today are two totally different things

Honestly I know he won a super bowl, but this is a guy who assuming he doesn't throw a 4th and 29 to ray then a miracle to jacoby jones at Denver is a second round exit guy top 15 qb alongside Shaub and tony romo...a guy who can get you the big numbers but can also vanish at times....instead he's now on par with Brady,Rodgers, brees, manning? Gtfo outta here he looked great last night but so did Schaub when he spanked the ravens...you wanna see a great qb see what Rodgers did that Sunday night game when Houston was 5-0 he threw 6 td at Houston vs the hottest team in the league.....that's how you define a stud qb not the guy who rode a hot streak for 4 games...flacco didn't win the super bowl on his own...good player but $20m a year and Baltimore is screwed

OTOH, a case could be made that Flacco is one Lee Evans dropped TD pass from possibly being a 2x Super Bowl Champion.
