Lions went to the playoffs six times during Sanders career. Granted they were mediocre teams, but that's not "wasted".

Still a shite franchise back then. They were 74-90 during his time and won 1 playoff game.

How is he a waste? He's currently the best player in the NFL

Because he's never played in the postseason.

He's the equivalent of prime Mike Trout. The best player in the world playing for an inept franchise

Myles Garrett
9 Seasons
4 First Team All Pros (about to be 5)
3 Playoff games

Barry Sanders
10 Seasons
6 First Team All Pros
6 Playoff games, including the 1991 NFC Championship Game

Calvin Johnson
9 Seasons
3 First Team All Pros
2 Playoff games

Joe Thomas
11 Seasons
6 First Team All Pros
0 Playoff games

Gale Sayers
7 Seasons
5 First Team All Pros
0 Playoff games

Dick Butkus
9 Seasons
5 First Team All Pros
0 Playoff games

Less teams made the playoffs when Sayers and Butkus were playing, as there were no Wild Card births. Even still, very few of those Bears teams from 1965-1973 even finished 2nd in their division. Crazy they also got Sayers and Butkus in the same 1965 draft.

Marino

Played in a Super Bowl, his team made the playoffs 10 times during his career, and he played under two head coaches his entire career: Don Shula and Jimmy Johnson.

His franchise didn't "waste" him nearly as much as others listed in this thread.

I fricking hate A&M but Myles is an absolute stud and I hate seeing great players damned to shitty franchises. Like much of a life, a lot of success is luck and timing and his has been bad on both counts.

And as always, you can’t discuss Myles Garrett without sharing one of the funniest pictures of all time. He has always been a man among boys.

Add in Larry Fitzgerald.

Fitzgerald, Megatron, Garrett, Marino, and Sanders is my mount Rushmore.

Does he compare to Clowney who is currently with Dallas. He seemed like an awesome talent coming out of high school and did pretty well in college, but like so many others, had injury woes in the NFL.

Steven Jackson.

Played on absolutely garbage rams teams, put up 11,500 career rushing yards and 3,600 career passing yards.

Maybe the best passing catching power back of all time.

If he had played on a team with a pulse he’d be a first ballot HOFer.
