Ty Detmer won the Heisman with not one but two games still yet to play and then got blown the heck out of the water in both games. A lot of Heisman voters probably wanted their ballots back for a re-vote after that.
Also, after the College Football Playoff began, they started automatically giving it to whichever Alabama player was the team MVP even though none of those players had what used to be called a “Heisman moment,” etc. It is no longer an award for the nation’s best player but for the best player on the team that the voters think will win the CFP.

Media decided it was time for a defensive player to win and gave it to Woodson over Peyton. That’s when it jumped the shark.

To be fair, Charles Woodson wasn't a bad choice. It's not like Mark Ingram or anything.
Dude played almost 20 years in the league, is a Hall of Famer, and potentially one of the all-time greats on defense.

Honestly I've never really cared about who won. There have been an occasional year here or there where the race piques my interest but generally I just don't care because Kentucky will never have anyone in the running. Tim Couch is as close as we've gotten.

Manning was a better pro than college player and he did not deserve the Heisman. They immediately won the national championship after he left so it's not like he was surrounded by bums.

Im just wondering how Peyton Manning lost 4 times to Tennessee when he played for Tennessee. Quite impressive.
