For me the Larry Fitzgerald year.
92 receptions 1672 yards and 22tds.

I was never really in the running myself.

When Eddie George, RB, won the 1995 Heisman over Tommie Frazier, QB, of Nebraska’s Big Red Machine.

When Ed Marinaro lost it to a truly average player on an average team…

When Charles Woodson beat out Peyton Manning. And I don’t even care for Manning. But that was just ESPN propping up and promoting Woodson relentlessly.

He really did have a phenomenal arm, in every respect, but I also saw him doing the old Bobby Hebert thing where you stare down the primary receiver like your daughter's prom date. His knees were also shot by the time he graduated, though that shouldn't really affect one's "Heisman legacy." Pro ball has nothing to do with the Heisman, though simple minds do try to connect the two.
For me the Larry Fitzgerald year.

Mark Ingram beating out Toby Gerhart.

When ESPN directed it to Charles Woodson.

This. Most deserving RB in decades, and gets beat by a guy who gets to run thru truck-sized holes. Why? Because the media went wild with the “Bama has never had a heisman winner” so they just robbed the guy to fix a perceived wrong of the past.

I think Manning losing 4 times(2 blowouts) to Tennessee had something to do with it.
