2016: Iron Bowl 4.5 ABC, The Game 9.4 ABC

i do think UM adding JH as the coach did bring a little more intrigue to the rivalry. those games were getting beyond stale

Michigan players and some fans say that as a dig to Ohio State. They also say that Ohio State is bigger than MSU as a dig to MSU.

Iron Bowl has more hatred, Iron Bowl has more talent (both on and off the field), Iron Bowl almost always means more, Iron Bowl stadium atmospheres are about 1000X better than The Big House and The Horseshoe.

The Iron Bowl is a better game in every sense of the word.

No doubt. Plus last year's game was fantastic.

How much does a game being wild factor into ratings? The 2014 was an "meh" matchup. And then Sims decided to throw 3 early picks and we were all in for an epic roller coaster as Alabama tried to keep their playoff hopes alive.

Ohio State and Michigan have produced WAY more draft picks, even recently.

This is honestly all that matters to me outside of simply liking the rivalry because I'm a fan of one of the teams.

The atmosphere in JHS during a close IB is fricking ridiculous. Those rabid mfers are nuts

If you are measuring by hatred, the Mississippi State vs Ole Miss has to be included in the discussion.

Which one would they get correct more often?

It depends which people you ask.

Rivalries are measured by hatred. The Iron Bowl wins that hands down.

Coaches get fired for not beating OSU or Michigan. Gus is 1-4 against bama and the 1 was pretty much a fluke with the 1 second added, missed FG, kick six stuff.

Where are you asking? Your responses will be different in Ohio than in Alabama.

"The Game" took on national relevance when ABC put it on every year at 11 or 3. Since it was a national broadcast and got the hype from ABC pushing it, everyone thought it was more important than it actually was. I mean both teams went over three decades without winning a championship. Also, add in the stigma of the Rose Bowl. The Rose Bowl was the only thing of significance on the line. Guess who had exclusive rights to the Rose Bowl, it was ABC. So ABC definitely wanted their games to seem more important than they actually are.

"The game" could also be Cal-Stanford or Harvard-Yale

You do realize that not all CBS affiliates across the country broadcast the SEC games every Saturday don't you? Also, if "The Game" was so damned important, how many times has it decided a national championship appearance? 2006 is the only time I can think of in recent memory.
