In this pass-happy era of football, this is amazing stuff. Jim Brown lived in a different football galaxy
596 vs 681. Number of carries in Jim Brown's two busiest seasons vs Henry's last two seasons. And Henry is on pace to blow that away this year. Right now he's on pace to break the season record even if he doesn't play the 17th game

Walter Payton
Emmitt smith
LT
Sanders
Dickerson
Gayle sayers
Jim brown
Adrian Peterson
Thurman Thomas

Lots of RBs above him. I say he needs to have the most rushing yards, top 5 in TDs, and at least 1 SB but 2 SB would be better

One of Henry's problem's is that he doesn't outright wow you with agility or burst. He's a bruiser with good vision and elite top end speed. Problem is, he's so damn big it doesn't look that fast... Seems petty but he's not a pretty runner that's gonna wow you. He's gonna have to fill up the lifetime stat sheets for another 3 seasons before anyone puts him in the top 10.

Bruise.Bruise.Bruise.Gone for 60

and most of those runs looked shitty.

Being the rare exception and being a power back that has a long injury free career. The thing about big power backs like him. Once they start getting them little nagging injuries they become a shadow of their former self because they can't take the pounding anymore.

Well considering he’s viewed as a lesser player than Kamara and McCaffrey … probably win a couple of SB

No running back will ever surpass Barry Sanders in my mind as the GOAT. That guy did things no other human could do.

He probably has to maintain his past 3 years production for the next 6-7 to even be in the discussion

He’s a HOFer, IMO, but it’s doubtful he will be considered the GOAT by anyone with half a brain.

Being up there with Walter Payton, Barry Sanders and Jim Brown is a tall task.

I also think the pass first offenses can help an RBs longevity. I find it amazing that the old school guys like Emmitt did even more impressive.

Henry has averaged 19 carries/game over the last 3 seasons. Emmitt averaged 20/game over 13 years with Dallas.

It’s hard to supplant the old guard when they destroyed their bodies at that pace.

The other thing is: does Henry want to play THAT long? Who knows, time will tell. It’s way to early to even consider him in this discussion.

You also have to keep in mind that defenses are smaller and built more to stop the brand of offense that made it’s way from college to the NFL.

Guys like Barry Sanders, Walter Payton and even Terrell Davis played defenses that were centered around stopping power run offenses.

Derrick Henry is basically bigger than most LB in the NFL, and also bigger than a lot of speed rushers from the edge.

Become the all-time leading rusher ever and do it in fewer games than Emmitt

Hes got 6100 yards and 58 rushing touchdowns. At a bare minimum he has to double both

?????

more like TRIPLE both

Emmitt had 18,355 yards and 164 TDs

remember it says GOAT RB, not just a great RB

5 more years of protection like the last 3

Which he may do.

He’s a big MF and endurance is maybe his most elite attribute.

Barry retired early. Is he even in the top 50 in games played at RB? Perhaps a Walter Payton would have been better.

The Average HOF RB played in 151 games and started 137.

Barry played in 153 and started 151. He retired early compared to his ability, but it’s not like he was a 6 year guy. He played in 10 seasons. He retired at 30 when most backs start to decline. Could he have played another 3-4 years at a declining rate? Sure. But why?
