fellow big ten peeps in this thread, what is your view of how MSU's next decade looks?

dantonio had to go, but they were a trash pile before him, and mel tucker isn't exactly doing anything great so far recruiting.

they have a mac-level roster this year and will win maybe 3 or 4 games.

What is Michigan “par” level?

How much better is the best version of a Michigan program is there?

Michigan has racked up a ton of wins over the years but They are the Texas of the north. Big fish in a little pond, they haven’t adjusted to the CFB reality of the past two decades

UK and Cincinnati being relatively good has hurt Michigan State pretty dramatically.

MSU relied on Ohio players to boost their roster and now those guys are choosing UC and UK.

MSU needs to get creative on offense and play hard nosed defense. They could be #2 in the East consistently. Penn State has an abysmal class for 2021 right now.

Michigan State's QB play also fell off of a cliff after Connor Cook graduated. That was the biggest difference between Dantonio's peak years and the end of his era, IMO. Their defenses were still good in his later years but those offenses were just brutal to watch.

MSU can eat a dick for all I care. Dantonio was Mr. Tough Guy when they were good, but he turned out to be a scumbag and I'm fine with everyone extracting their pound of flesh now that they're down.

Sadly, they'll probably still beat UM this year.

This year will be total butt hole but they are picking up in 2021 for recruiting. They are a few years away.

2017 Lewerke wasn't bad...the 2018 and 2019 version of him was garbage. Also poor OL and bad scheme too but he definitely wasn't good.

Harbaugh is supposed to be a QB guru and yet Patterson wasn't even drafted despite being a 5*.

So was Brock Berlin. I saw Patterson play plenty at OM. You can't blame Harbaugh solely for that idiot.

2018 Michigan State probably had a top 5 defense in the country that year. But that was the worst offense I have probably ever seen at the college level. Just frickin putrid.

Harbaugh should've watched some film, he'd have known that Patterson was meh against good teams

Don't get me wrong...I've always had a great time up there when I've been, and we lost all 3 I've gone to. Just sayin, you know

Oh, and I also had the pleasure of being in the Big House for the ridiculous punt block and return to win the game for MSU, and the deluge game where 3 of 11 Michigan passes attempted during the storm were intercepted. That game was fricking awful.

You should've heard the chatter among the wolverine faithful when he signed. You'd have thought he was the second coming of...I don't know, Jim Harbaugh, or something.

Peppers was a safety who got moved up to linebacker because of his speed.

so were Glasgow and Hudson. Most of our Linebackers have had elite speed. LB and DL have consistently been the strong points of the team in the Jim era

I was at that 2015 game in Ann Arbor. Amazing time.

Also had a blast in Madison last fall. Hoping to go back soon

Penn State will get there - raw number of commits drag their conference ranking down, but they're No. 4 in average (per 247) behind Ohio State, Michigan and Wisconsin.

At the least, they've had a pretty dynamite start to 2022.

His terrible coaching made his son cry in Madison.

ETA: Ended up at a frat house on Langdon that night with my GF and a bunch of other Michigan grad friends. No one was at the house but a few underclassmen, but the Michigan guys were brothers so the tunes came on and it was party time. Fast forward the evening and I lost my rain gear and hooded sweatshirt, a buddy and I traded full on punches to the gut just because, and my girlfriend had to peel my contacts out of my eyes because I was blacked out.

Sorry for partying.
