It's hard to believe they lost three games by five points and were just a few plays away from making the playoff not that long ago (2016). Since then they haven't been a close in their own division really. Whenever I've see them in big games, they seem to have a knack for making crucial, stupid mistakes.

they played osu for the division title in 2018 and were widely expected to win that game. of course, the score wasn't close.

Shitty QB play and lazy offensive scheme. Harbaugh is still of the mindset that you can win big games 17-10 or so.

I think he has a young good offensive mind at oc. He claims he is letting him do his thing, but there were multiple times last year where I thought harbaugh overruled him on a play call.

Harbaugh took over a michigan program that was basically trending towards northwestern/indiana status with hoke and turned us into a slightly better version of Iowa.

That is what UM football is. the iowa of the eastern division. except iowa actually beat osu recently.

the problem for harbs is this: he wasn't brought in to merely stabilize the program. He was brought in to make the program compete at an elite level.

An ape could win 7-9 games a year with mich's talent compared to the rest of big ten except osu, psu, and wisc.

You have to deliver on hype. When you come in with hype and don't deliver it becomes stale really quickly.

Harbaugh has failed to develop a QB and produce a modern offense. You have to adapt, even rigid coaches like Saban have switched offensive philosophies.

His offenses no matter who calls them have been nothing special.

I truly believe this changed the trajectory of the program. Michigan had so much momentum that year...and they had that new coach hire momentum.

I think if they beat #7 Michigan State, they have the momentum to keep building. I think it was so deflating for the program.

It was just a catastrophic loss.

I remember when he was first hired, the 49er beat writer for a bay area newspaper wrote a column where he basically told michigan fans to prepare for season after season of mich defenses being better than the offense under harbaugh.

Not exactly a good sign when an offensive minded HC consistently fields units way underperforming compared to the defense.

the best qb harbs has had at mich was a facking grad transfer from iowa in harb's first year.

in other words, a dude who did 90%+ of his development elsewhere remains harb's best performing qb to date.

I don't see this.

that happened in 2015, his first year. they went on to end that year 10-3 with a blowout win vs florida.

Then the following year they are 9-0 until the inexcusable loss at iowa. Even after that, they are inches away from beating osu and going to playoff.

I can't explain it but there was so much hype around Harbaugh and it felt like Michigan was going to the Rose Bowl...

I just think it took the air out of their sails...they were on pace to have a great turnaround...and then they crumbled toward the end of the season getting blown out by Ohio State and Florida.

These are kids and I think it was so deflating they never really recovered. I think if Harbaugh has that magical first year, things would've been different.

Andrew Luck was his great QB success story, but Stanford was very much built on old school, I-Formation downhill running in his time there.

ESPN fed everyone the fake narrative that harbs was a "QB whisperer" and as such, michigan overpaid for his services because of the propaganda.

It wasn't fake. His track record before he got to Michigan was outstanding.

IMO, his teams are built like Tressel's Ohio State teams. They're talented but they're built to run the ball out of the I and stop downhill running games. Whenever the game gets played outside of the hashmarks, they're in trouble.

Eh, sometimes it’s the jimmy and joes. I’m not defending Harbaugh but some schools just have a hard time getting top flight QB talent and other schools get lucky or just don’t. USC has an easy time, Alabama does very well, UGA does very well. Auburn seems to suck at it. Some of it’s the coaching and recruiting also don’t get me wrong. USC consistently has 3 NFL Qb’s on their roster and they suck.

Its his schemes. He wants to do old school Big 10 football. Even Bama went to the spread offense.

his schemes were fine we need to fire or demote Gattis and go back to the Fullbacks and Tight Ends
