28-3, that should never happen in a regular season game in the NFL. Let alone in the big game.

1. 1996 World Series. That team was better than the Yankees and I believe had they finished that series, they would have gotten at least one more in 1997 or 1998 and would be looked at as maybe the best team of all time.

2. 28-3. No excuses for that.

3. 2012 SECCG/2017 CFP. Had Alabama beat and let them off the hook both times.

4. 2020 NLCS. We all saw that choke.

That is often overlooked, but it doesn't really sting as bad because Matt Ryan hurt his AC joint late in that game and would have been questionable (at best) for the Super Bowl.

This one really, really sucked. That Falcons team would have gone into Minnesota and beaten the Vikings in the NFCCG. Looking at how the Eagles obliterated everyone else after that game will always leave a bad taste in my mouth. Between the Julio drop and the Minneapolis Miracle, we were two plays away from a Falcons/Saints NFCCG, which would have broken this website.

Being up 3-1 and losing the series is worse than being up by 2 scores and letting a phenom backup come back and beat you IMO.

28-3 is absolutely the worst.

Obviously this is the worst.

Everything else is 'competing' for runner up.

Could also throw in the prayer at Jordan hair, i doesn’t have as much significance outside of the rivalry but losing like that stings for a long time

With so many choices, we need a primary followed by a run-off!

Falcons Super Bowl easily. That’s probably the most epic sports collapse I’ve ever (joyfully) watched considering the stakes and circumstances

Jean van de Velde comes to mind.

And the Oilers choking to the Bills.

And the Yankees blowing a 3-0 series lead against the Red Sox.

They also demolished LSU in the 05 SEC CG but then lost to underdog WVU in the Sugar Bowl on a fake punt. WVU had some good years following this but at the time everyone was laughing at UGA. Nowhere near the top but I just felt like mentioning it

I actually think its these 3 in this order.

I don't really see the Braves 3-1 as that much of a choke compared to a lot of the other ones. Is it a choke? yes. I think it will be exaggerated however given how much choking has happened in the state.

The Super Bowl choke is one of the worst chokes in professional sports history, you could easily argue the worst due to the stage.
