Surprised none has mentioned the coin toss in the '98 Thanksgiving day game where Bettis called "he-tails".

Another one that was huge on the world stage was Maradona's Hand of God in the '86 World Cup.

As a Fins fan and a Pats hater the Snow Plow Game looms large for me.

In the end, I have to give it to the '72 Olympics. Just like the Miricle on Ice everyone in the US and probably the USSR and a lot of the rest of the world was talking about it the next day. I remember my aunt and mother have a long discussion about it and the Ruskies and neither of them could tell you the difference between a basketball and a football. If you didn't live during the Cold War it is hard to understand how the US vs CCCP permeated every aspect of society. Things like the space race and the Olympics were proxies for actual war in people's minds.

UCF was named #1 in the Final Colley Matrix poll, which is a recognized selection body. Their claim is as legit, if not more, than Alabama’s claim in 1941

lol get real dude. You’re comparing 2017 G5 UCF to 1941 Bama because of a poll that nobody’s heard of?

The worse call was the personal foul called in the last minutes of the 2014 game when LSU had 1st and goal at like the 6 yard line and the offensive lineman was trying to get the Alabama player off his leg as he was trying to get back to the huddle.

Stopped the clock and put LSU further back.....probably one of the most crooked calls ever. REC doing work with the refs that night. Because no foul, no free time out for Saban and Sims . Probably Bama never gets the ball back.

Bill Vinovich is watching too. The bill of his cap is pointed at the no call hit. He could have called a ref huddle to get the call right.

And that was just the beginning of the end game frickery. Incomplete pass that was called a catch. TD on a pick play, an illegal formation/false start not called. The SEC manufactured that win with ease.

That was the last LSU/Bama game I attended and will attend. My brother, an LSU alum, had not attended an LSU/Bama matchup prior to this.

As soon as LSU recovered the fumble, several fans around us immediately said "they will either overturn this, or they will start to flag LSU out of field goal range. They will not allow LSU to get a TD here as that would end the game". Sure enough...like clockwork.

Watching the SEC rig a game live is a spectacle, that's for sure. Just one of dozens we have seen for the Gumps the past few decades.

When Birmingham calls, you gotta listen to mama. That should have been a no call. If the rolls were reversed, does anybody honestly think the refs would have called Alabama for a PF?

Vinovich should never have been allowed to leave town that night without multiple contusions.

That was as crooked a call as anyone has ever seen.....even the NFL office after the fact said they fricked up.....but whatcha gonna do? When the NFL wants the team from LA in the Super Bowl, the team from LA goes to the super Bowl

Four Referees in Controversial Rams/Saints Game Have Ties to Southern California

Fans are concerned about the NFL's decision to allow four referees with Southern California ties to judge the contest.

quote:

On Sunday (Jan. 27), ESPN reported that concerns are being raised around the NFL's decision to allow four referees with Southern California ties to judge the contest between the Los Angeles Rams and New Orleans Saints. Per the piece, sources believe that their connection to the Los Angeles might have played a role in the no call on Rams cornerback Nickell Robey-Coleman's blatant pass interference against the Saints' Tommylee Lewis.

quote:

@AdamSchefter · Follow There’s concern in some NFL quarters that four officials in NFC Championship Game live in Southern California, sources tell ESPN.

quote:

Many are wondering privately how head referee Bill Vinovich who lives in Newport Beach, CA, was paired with LA County resident Patrick Turner as well as Dan Arnold and Todd Prukop who live in Santa Barbara and Mission Viejo, respectfully. This lineup goes against the leagues' extensive list of checks and balances placed in effect to ensure a fair game. The skeptics are interested in hearing why the NFL decided to assign the refs to the Rams/Saints game and not Kansas City/New England or why the officiating crew was assembled in the first place. However, the NFL sought to quiet these rumors with a short but firm response.

The closest referee is on the midfield side of the play. It’s possible that from his angle, the ball and contact happens simultaneously. Without a direct shot with referee, contact, and ball all in a straight line, can’t tell. Same can be said from the back judge’s angle. The pic posted that all Saints fans point out, does not paint a clear picture of PI. If the ball is past the play, contact can be made.

I actually really agree with this. I also think the all black uniforms we were wearing don't flash against the field in the same way and make it less likely to get this type of contact call

LSU went 2-2 to close the 2009 season after losing to Bama in Tuscaloosa
Both by only 2 points, one of which was the bowl game. LSU was a failed 2 point conversion from tying up the Ole Miss game. And a win in Tuscaloosa would've had LSU with a lot more motivation going into Oxford. Not saying we would've gone onto win the natty that year because I still think Florida would've beaten us again in the SECCG, but it would've kept Bama from making it to Atlanta and out of the BCS title game

My father? Someone that works hard and earned everything he got in life. Someone I want my kids to idolize.

Thank you for asking. He's still around and I hope he's around for many more years.

AJ Hinch putting in Will Harris rather than Gerrit Cole in the 7th inning of game 7 in the 2019 WS. Harris gives up a two-run homer to blow the 1-0 lead and the Nats win the WS at our ballpark

All it takes is a jump ball to our talented WR's and LSU could have won that game. We didn't deserve to but that call was blown on purpose by the refs.

mean sometimes the refs blow a call or miss a play. It happens. But to watch one boxer pummel another for an entire fight and just say "f--k it, we're giving the gold medal to our guy and there's nothing you can do about it" is just brazenly offensive.

...And have the guy you completely owned in the fight apologize for the decision

The LSU/Auburn game was the most blatantly rigged game I've ever witnessed in CFB. Even worse than anything Bama has done (in a single game). The SEC makes WWE look like childs play to this day.

I was there and I don't think I've ever been so flat out angry. I've been more depressed and shocked, but I Was fricking angry.

Game was absolutely rigged. I don't know why or how, but it absolutely was.

LSU wins the national title that year if that game is called fairly.

Just one of the several calls that was insanely wrong. There were several just as bad:

Untrue. They have one of the worst calls in professional sports history to blame. They played the end of that game well enough to win. They would have won. They didn't win because it was stolen from them.
