What kind of pedestal are you putting these adults on?

Damn. Would it take murder to have them expelled?

All 3 players should have their scholarships revoked and be kicked off the team for this season. They are welcome to still attend the university. But they are not allowed to even practice with the team until next year. But even if they do stick around UCLA, they should not be allowed to regain their scholarship. The opportunity to attend university for free is a privilege, a privilege that these guys lost.

What?
I mean, you aren't treating these individuals like normal people. You are already treating them like celebrities.

They supposedly robbed three stores in China while on an international event representing not only their school but also their country.

How is that not expulsion worthy?

Under what circumstances could any other student at UCLA get away with that without being expelled?

Well yes, or something of the equivalent. Domestic and sexual assault can get you expelled, armed robbery as well. Shoplifting could, but I don't think it should.

Valuable people get more chances in life.

They allegedly jacked some clothing from some stores in China. Due to China's severe laws, it became a big deal. It's not a big deal with a normal county. Depending on the price of the items, it's either a misdemeanor or it gets reduced to a misdemeanor.

Ultimately, I don't really give a shite. Suspend them for a half a season and move on.

Due to it being an international incident I think they will get a pretty harsh suspension.

Assuming they were all a part of the theft, they should be suspended for a full season.

I suspect they will be suspended for the semester, and return somewhere close to Christmas.

Absolutely.

These men are more valuable because they are better at bouncing a ball than the rest of us though.

I think they should probably get an indefinite suspension.

Anything less than a full year suspension sans scholarship and to include rehab requirements would be a travesty...

they were in China disrespected China’s laws. Theft is a big deal. They shamed their university and our country with their actions. You are right that people who bring value get more chances. The extra chance they got is that the President called in a favor and had them brought back to the United States. It will be embarrassing if UCLA ever lets these kids represent their university again.
