I bet Both of them can play RT

Having 2 elite Tackles is in no way a terrible thing.

this is possibly true but i disagree, it is terrible value for the #3 pick

Now I disagree. You don’t trade the number three pick when there is a really good OT you can take.... the Dolphins already have a lot of picks to work with..... get what you need later..... the only way I would trade that pick is if there is a QB I really wanted. But they won’t do that.

the Jets will probably take Sewell at #2

the Dolphins drafted an OT in the first round last year

You’re a fricking moron if you think a Franchise Tackle is a terrible value at any spot

They have a cornerstone LT right now, I don’t think it makes a lot of sense for them to grab Sewell given how many needs are on that roster

If they don’t go QB then I think they’ll look to trade down or I could see them going after an edge defender

good point, forgot about Becton

Jets and Dolphins probably trade down to whomever wants the QBs

Then you know nothing about the NFL. OTs are the most important position in football outside of QB. Even if the Dolphins wanted a QB, the top 2 consensus guys will be gone when they pick. If Sewell is there, they take him and get the best player in the draft, end of story.

it is terrible value at #3 when you drafted an OT #18 overall last year

unless you think Austin Jackson is a bust after half a season and a foot injury?

Thought Becton was starting at RT? Then again it’s the Jets and no one watches them so you’re probably right

Because teams only play with one tackle right?

no, OTs are not

Edge LBs and DEs are easily the most important position outside of QB and it isn't close

just look at the pay scales by position

edge

OLB

DL just FYI

OL

In general Dominant OTs are worth high picks - yes

A dominant LT is not worth the #3 pick to the Dolphins in this draft.

They just drafted an OT in the 1st last year. They drafted 3 OL in 2020 and they drafted Jesse Davis in 2017 and he is their best OL with Robert Hunt at RT (2020 2nd RD pick)

They have a LH QB so they dont need two high priced LTs.

You dont draft a guy #18 and another #3 and then ask one of them to change positions.

if the Dolphins keep the pick I suspect they will draft best available edge LB or DL/DE

I think Pitts would be ideal, then they have the two TE look that the Pats had when Flores was there

if they trade down sure, pitts is ideal

at #3? no

The LB from Penn State seems like a popular pick for them at #3 in the mocks

I think they trade down

à with who?

Potential trade partners I see are

- Cincinnati (just a couple of spots), so they can secure Sewell.
- any other team would be moving up to get a QB, so you're looking at Detroit, Carolina, Denver. And even a couple of those are iffy. Everyone else is too far back.
Maybe Philly moves up too to take Sewell.

I doubt it. They already have a solid TE in Gesicki.

Fwiw Gesicki is a horrible blocker. And Flores wants an identity of running the football. He started at #2 on the depth chart this season because of that.

I’m someone who clearly knows more about football, particularly the NFL than you do that’s for sure.

You still never answered this:

with holes all over the defense

Tell me about these holes on the top scoring defense in the league

And there isn’t a single defensive player worth a top 3 pick in this draft, much less a damn middle linebacker.

You can link salaries all you want, but pass rushers only have value because of great tackles, great tackles have value because of great QBs.

Do I need to make a flowchart for you?

No it’s not.

Has any team said “it sucks having 2 great tackles”

Sewell is an elite prospect so a 3rd pick isn’t too much for him, and Ilan 18th pick isn’t a waiste if you think a guy can be an elite tackle on the other end.

Look at Ramscyk fro the sands (probably mispelt) He was a steal at 32. Looking back why wouldn’t you take him at 18?

Look if you can get a perennial All-Pro, HOF-caliber player, particularly at OT, you don't do stupid shite like trade down for an extra rotational linebacker. You take the guy and protect the franchise.

There is no guarantee that Sewell is a perennial All Pro. Dolphins drafted LT Austin Jackson @ #18 and he was a Day 1 starter. He's also younger than Sewell and his $13.6 million/4 year contract is about $22-23 million less than what Sewell would get at #2 overall. They took RT Robert Hunt in the 2nd round and he's only costing the Dolphins $8 million over 4 years. Hunt is grading out better than Jackson, #4 overall pick, Andrew Thomas and #11 overall pick Jedrick Wills. It's just stupid to draft the best player available when he's not at a position of need and that costly. Ask the LA Rams about taking an OT at #2. They drafted OT's Jason Smith and Greg Robinson at #2 overall. How would you like to be the GM that drafted those busts over Trent Williams, Taylor Lewan and Zach Martin?
