What professional sports are better today than in the 90s

Yeah and the general hysteria around sports is relegated to the background of the culture. Still popular but competing with lots of other things going on.
You could argue professional soccer (football) is better now than in the 90s.

NFL is unquestionably better now than the pre-salary cap/early salary cap era between 1990-1995 when small market teams had zero chance of winning Super Bowls.Today’s NHL is also significantly better than the clutch and grabbing dead puck era of the ‘90s.

You mean the same 5 year period when the 2nd smallest market team in the NFL made the Super Bowl 4 years in a row?

Many/most of them, but since the demographics of this board skew heavily towards mid-young Gen X and Millennials, you're referencing a specific time period when this board was adolescent, and formed their concept of what these leagues were supposed to be. And since society has become hyper-focused on nostalgia, sprinkled in with the typical internal delusion regarding viewing our childhood with halcyon lenses, people will overrate these eras of the various leagues.

Definitely not college basketball or football.
I think baseball has taken a slight step back, but nothing too drastic.
NBA is polarizing.... Quality of play is likely better now, but the 90s featured inarguably the most iconic athlete in the history of sport.

MLB. The pitch clock has been a godsend in terms of watchability. There are still lots of issues.

I can’t watch UFC PPV anymore. They stretch that shite out too long and I can’t stay up until 1-2:00 in the morning anymore to watch a fight that I can just watch the next day on YouTube clips

If you look at population size, Buffalo is the 3rd smallest, behind Green Bay and New Orleans.

I think baseball is better today than it was in the 90s but I think it's worse than it was 10 years ago in some ways.

PGA. I know the Tiger bump in the 90's was probably the greatest I will ever see in my life, but as a whole, golf is much better. Tons of talent and the money going into the courses & production is much better.

The NHL is loads better than it was during the Dead Puck era. The game is faster, more creative, and still more violent than it was 30 years prior.
