Last year’s ratings

quote:

The Tour Championship, the final event in the PGA FedEx Cup, earned a 1.4 rating and 2.1 million viewers on NBC last Sunday — down 13% in ratings and 17% in viewership from last year (1.6, 2.5M) and down 13% in both measures from 2015 (1.6, 2.4M).

Tiger with the massive ratings bump:

Tiger Woods' first PGA Tour win in five years results in major ratings boost

The overnight ratings are in, and NBC Sports’ broadcast of the Tour Championship’s final round scored a 5.21. That’s the highest rating for a non-major PGA Tour broadcast in all of 2018. That 5.21 represents a 206 percent increase over 2017’s ratings, which clocked in at 1.70. Streaming was also up 521 percent over 2017, with 18.4 million minutes streamed across NBC Sports’ platforms.

Tiger’s presence at the top of the leaderboard even helped third round coverage on Saturday. The third round scored a 3.14 overnight rating, up 142 percent from 2017. That made it the highest rated third round of any FedEx Cup Playoffs event on record.

quote:

Sunday’s lead-in coverage on Golf Channel (Noon-1:30p) also earned a .74 Overnight rating to become the highest Sunday lead-in telecast of the TOUR Championship ever (2007-’18).

I’d bet they’ll be close to double last year.

It helped that sports fan were already at their tv for the NFL. I switched over to NBC for the back 9.

That's just incredible. With that, the epic shot of the crowd following him on 18 and just the emotions yesterday, captured in this image, you cannot tell me that Tiger being back is anything short of awesome for the game of golf.

He doesn't just move the needle...he IS the needle

Dude, shut up. The NFL had nothing to do with people tuning in for Tiger.

A couple of dumbfricks yesterday claimed a picture like that could be taken at every 18th green on Sunday. Tiger or no Tiger.

They should go check out the picture of the 18th from the PGA Championship this year when Koepka sank the winning putt. Everyone had already cleared out

Right because last year they played the final round of the Tour Championship on a Wednesday when no football games were on.

Just no. Masters Sunday is a big crowd but not just any tournament. This was like something out of a movie. Like Happy Gilmore.

I have been watching for years and have never seen anything like that. The announcers mentioned the same. There's even a video out there of Rory looking giddy like an excited kid pointing it out to Tiger. He turns, smirks, and is like, "I know, crazy right?" That is instantly an iconic moment in Tiger's legendary career.

You know. There’s a certain poster who only cares about watching the relevant golfers that has been noticeably absent.
