-Winning conference titles is a big deal. College football SHOULD be a regional sport. Ferments averages a top 10 finish every 5 years or so.

-Great fan support

-History of putting players in the NFL and those players having success(especially linemen and TEs)

-Excellent academics

-Nice stadium and facilities

-Fun college town (Iowa City > BR)

-Play your cross state rival and other rivals every year (Wisc, Minn, etc.)

-The program has stability which is a major deal to recruits and their families. Going to play at a place who fires the coach or has the coach bolt for another job sucks.

I mean...I remember when they beat LSU. Not bad for an average program!

1) chances to start/playing time
2) media exposure
3) proximity to home
4) campus life generally
5) course offerings

Is this thread about Iowa winning, or is it about the motivation of players who choose to play for Iowa? NFL ambition is a huge reason why players choose one school over another.

The vast majority of HS players primary motivation is getting to the NFL not winning in college.

Their coach, Kirk Ferentz, has been with them for a full Quarter-Century. His overall record is 187-105 for a .574 record. Just kind of mediocre.

He is a hall of famer, he is one win away from taken Iowa to their 20th bowl game since 2001.

He went to 8 other bowl games as an assistant coach in the 80s. Prior to him arriving in '81, Iowa had only been to two bowl games. Coached under Belichick in Cleveland, survived his firing and moved to Baltimore.

Not a bad thread. Mostly a cuck, low iq audience on this particular board so they never were going to get it.

Solid thread. Wrong audience. Start a dumbass thread about Tua and the Dolphins or Joe Burrow being worse than Trubisky and that’s the type of thing this board respects and appreciates.

Iowa has as many conference championships this century as Florida, Tennessee, A&M, Ole Miss, State, and 5 other SEC schools have combined.
