Looking at it now...Herman has the 2nd highest winning pct of UT HCs since 1987, behind only Mack Brown

retrospect, Tom Herman did not do that bad a job at Texas.

Non-Texas fans said as much at the time.

Hot coaching names are so weird to me. It was the same thing back 15-20 years ago with Mike Nolan, Randy Edsall and Jeff Tedford

I mean Tom Herman was pretty fing good for more than a year

He was 22-4 at Houston with wins over OU at OU, FSU and @louisville

Then in his second year at Texas they beat UGA in the Sugar bowl. So that's 3 out of 4 good years

Then the train fell off the tracks of course. Hell he was 32-18 at Texas. Not incredible but certainly not a failure compared to some of the guys around him. Strong was 16-21 and Sark is 13-12

Edit: and he brought in really good recruiting classes. 18, 19 and 20 were all top 10 classes and 18 and 19 were top 3

he's actually never been a bad coach, just had some friction with the 1,001 head honchos in the texas program.

This. I was salty at first when LSU didn't get him. He's not a bad coach, almost never gets embarrassed. He's just weird af or autistic or both.

The crazy thing is he had recruited Joe Burrow to Ohio State so Joe probably would have still come to LSU if Herman got the job and we probably would have still won the national championship in 19

In most cases you don’t get a second chance, but you’re so rich you don’t care.

Did he lose a game to Kansas when he was the HC there?

Or drink.

Or let his crazy arse wife try to jump out of the plane.

If he hadn't been such an arse, he may have still been here.

At least he had teams.

Beat 2003 USC, barely lost to 2004 USC @ the Coliseum.

He is going to turn around a big time program within next 3-5 years.
