What did Norvell really accomplish to get bumped up to $8 million per season

W's against Duquesne, LSU (missed XP), Louisville, BC, Ga Tech, Miami, Syracuse, ULL, and Florida (both Miami and Fla were terrible)
Losses to Wake Forest, NC St and Clemson
Bowl win OU (who was terrible)
LSU by at least 21 in Orlando next year

Not much really but ADs are god awful at salary negotiations and get their asses worked by agents every single time.

They're trending up. Solid season last year, good portal/recruiting class. I'm a little worried about that game Labor Day weekend. (Although I think LSU could lose and still be in the playoff hunt or go to a NY6 bowl.)

They are improving, Jimbo left it in a mess then a few bad coaches after didn't help. They have talent and bring in more.
They have to be careful of to much turnover due to portal, it will bite some of these teams if the culture isn't strong.

He inherited an absolute shite show that was left by Jimbo and Willie Taggert left behind. He has rebuilt them into a pretty solid team that’s headed in the right direction for the first time in almost a decade.

The way it works now is coaches get raises and big extensions immediately following a year where they meet or slightly exceed expectations.
