Yep.

White people ruined NASCAR from the top on down, but let's blame this on non-white people.

You're a fricking idiot.

My theory has always been people have a favorite driver, and that driver retires or dies, and they are unable to find the same passion they had being a fan for another driver. So they are no longer as invested.

No more redneck drivers actually fighting, Yankee drivers, Yankee tracks and alienating the Southern fans that made the sport. Frick the France family.

NASCAR can rebound if they bring some professional wrestling and hockey elements into the sport. Have their be no holds barred trash talk call out interviews and feuds ala wrestling, borrow legal fights from hockey and then have it settled on the track.

That's the problem, the drivers these days are so bland. What's the difference between any of them? No personality at all. Just smiling corporate faces for the camera.

People get bored watching 500 miles of left hand turns. Metrosexuals are replacing heterosexual men in front of TV's.

Somebody who was relevant 10 years ago so that they can dedicate 97 percent of the sport’s coverage to his 27th place finish?

They tried that with Danica Patrick.

A lot of people don’t realize how the 48’s dominance negatively affected the common man’s interest in the sport. JJ and Knaus were so robotic and made the sport stale in my opinion. No true rivalry and villains either like you had in mid to late 90’s.

Too many cookie cutter 1.5 mile tracks in favor of places like Rockingham. Drivers became pretty stale as well, big personalities have left and there isn't much backfill.

There's a million reasons, but I think they're truthfully heading back in the right direction with the new guy running the show. Hopefully he undoes this ridiculous under-powered car they're doing this year though.

BTW if you want a fun night of entertainment head to your local short track, asphalt or dirt. You'd likely be surprised how close one is

it got popular because there werent too many rules and there were a lot of wrecks.

it was about who was the least scared to push a car to the limit and drive aggressively.

then they added about 1000 rules and safety regs and added restriction plates to engines so all the cars were limited to the same speed so it became a game of who makes the slowest pit stops or has a flat tire loses

the NFL is killing itself the same way by removing all the things from the game that made people want to watch it

I consider several factors to be reasons for NASCAR’s decline (in no particular order):

1. Economic collapse of 2008 - going to races isn’t cheap given that most people have to travel and camp/stay in a hotel to go to races, the economic collapse only exacerbated those things and led to lower attendance. Sponsors also left the sport.

2. NASCAR leadership - Brian France, grandson of founder Bill France Sr., has been a terrible leader for NASCAR.

3. Major changes - over the last 10-15 years NASCAR has made so many major changes to the cars, the points system, the schedules, etc. that fans have had mixed feelings about.

4. Lack of competition - see Jimmie Johnson winning 5 straight championships.

5. Driver retirements - this has been more recent but the retirement of several major drivers has hurt NASCAR. Guys like: Dale Earnhardt Jr., Jeff Gordon, Tony Stewart, Carl Edwards, Kasey Kahne, Matt Kenseth, and Greg Biffle. Also, many of the new, young drivers lack personality.

6. NASCAR never totally recovered from the death of Dale Earnhardt - there was never another driver who had the clout of Dale Sr. I believe a lot of the competition issues would not have occurred if Dale Sr. had lived. He was the one driver who had major influence in NASCAR’s decisions.

7. Running teams keeps getting more expensive, even as the huge sponsors go away.

If JJ was from Georgia, NASCAR would have thrived. Rednecks don’t want their sport dominated by Californians and Pennsylvanians.

You completely misunderstood what he said. He is knocking white people. Hell, I thought it was a shite post for that reason.
