re: What a Top 16 seed NBA Playoff Bracket would look like this season

NBA needs to reseed each round regardless of format - it devalues the regular season even more if upsets happen. Only sport that doesn’t do this.

Off the top we’d get a Cleveland/Golden St. 2nd rd series
you misspelled pelicans/golden st
also the travel issue is stupid
Portland is 2500 miles from New Orleans
Houston is 1200 miles from Minneapolis
etc

The AFC was the NFC’s bitch for 15 or so years. These things are cyclical.
I mean they still are. Just because an AFC team wins the SB doesn't mean they're the superior conference. The NFC has been rotating teams and players to represent the conference for a long arse time. AFC has Ben Brady and Peyton and that random Flacco year for basically the turn of the millennium. You've seen different NFC teams with different stars go all the time. From Rodgers to Hasselbeck (underrated because he doesn't have a ring) to Brees to Favre to Manning to Wilson to Kaep to Newton to Ryan to Warner...

The pels would get screwed as my anticipation led me to believe when I entered this thread. The top right of the bracket is where Id want to be...

I hope they talk sense into the Owners and keep 8 each conference.

If there was a 1-16 and everyone realized that Lebron's team wasn't the second best team, but lower, would that hurt his legacy?

Why? That defeats the purpose.

Clearly needs to happen. The East has been shite for too long

Not a straight 1-16 based on records.

Silver said his concept would keep the best eight teams from each conference in the playoffs, but would seed those teams 1-16. In that scenario, if the top two teams were from the same conference, it would set up a possible Finals meeting.

I understand that. But why would that be the “sensible” approach? You’re penalizing a team for its geographical location, more or less.
If you are going to switch, make it the best 16 teams, regardless of conference. Do away with conferences. Keep divisions, if you like, and make it so that division winners are rewarded with playoff seeding or something.
But to keep it 8/8 from East West is stupid. In a year where the West playoff line may have been a little lower than usual and the East maybe a little higher than usual, Denver was 3 games better than Washington and didn’t get in. Why change it if that’s going to remain the case?

My first thought as well.

This needs to happen. NFL as well. Conferences are stupid.

Because you don’t play balanced schedules and reward teams for winning divisions. Every team knows what it has to do. Win it’s division or finish top 8 in conference. Don’t do it then sorry.
I don’t get why people don’t get this?

Then don’t change the playoffs at all.
If you’re going to change it to be conferenceless, then make it the top 16 teams. Making it 8/8 would defeat the purpose and would be stupid.

I don’t want them changed but people are whining about it without thinking and just knee jerking
Your idea of top 16 is dumb because you can’t balance the schedule. Either take top 8 of each seed 1-16 or leave alone.
Now if they can balance the schedule where you play everyone 4 times 2/h 2/a then go for it. But do you want 100 plus game season?

Anyone else really love Philly’s new logo?
