Holy shite!!!! How in the Hell are they in the same district????

Broadmoor could not have had more than 35 kids on their team. Their band had 20, at best. Those kids busted their arse, but they were clearly outclassed.

I admit have not paid attention to BR high school football in 20 years, but what the frick happened to Broadmoor? Did John Parker kill it?

It's not just broadmoor. BR high schools are all sucking these days. The 90's are long gone.

To be fair, Broadmoor made it to the 1992 state championship game in 4A.

Broadmoor had some strong teams in the late 90's as well. 2 years in a row they got eliminated by John Curtis in the semis and quarters I believe. They were undefeated the year they lost in the semis. Those teams had Mike Woods, Brad Franklin, Trae Duncan, Ryan Richard, and some other solid players. But Broadmoor has always been the same as far as the size of the team. They've bounced up in down from 4A to 5A the last 15 years but never have more than 40 kids on the team.

Woodlawn has a pretty good squad, much better than Broadmoor, Tara and Belaire. Woodlawn beat Warren Easton last season.

It was worse than the score indicates. CHS scored in under 2:00 on five drives in the first half. They were already playing backups prior to halftime.

High school sports are microcosm of the problems with public school in general in BR and NOLA. Functional families don't want their kids in public schools and do everything they can to keep them out. That leaves a lot of dysfunction in urban public schools and we see that display itself in sports.

What's really sad is that there are some great individual kids stuck in these schools that could really shine if placed in a functional environment.

it's unfortunate you can't talk about high school football without race being the elephant in the room, but it is what it is

also just using Chalmette and the teams we play, there is a correlation to the number of coaches (varsity and JV combined) listed in the LHSAA directory and the teams' success (calpreps state ranking)

Holy Cross 18 (21)
Chalmette 13 (66)
John Ehret 11 (29)
Landry Walker 10 (28)
St. Thomas Aquinas 9 (37)
Helen Cox 8 (180)
Bonnabel 7 (227)
East Jeff 7 (149)
West Jeff 7 (119)
Higgins 7 (126)
Grace King 6 (287)

There are plenty of black families who sacrifice to get their kids in private schools in BR.

I was there from 91-94. Went to quarterfinals in 91, semis in 92(finally beating Curtis), and undefeated all the way to the dome in 93 where they lost the championship game to Hahnville. Sad to hear it's fallen so far now. Is Rusty Price still the coach there?

My nephew went to Broadmoor in the mid 90's... Great crowds and the bench was full... However. The area has cleaned out of young people who have kids this age... Its either retired people or kids that go to private schools........

I remember Jonathan Wells going wild in that 98 game. Dude would bark like a dog when he scored. Was a packed house for that game.

Between football and baseball we had some good teams at BHS in the late 90's. Basketball not so much haha. Still baffles me how we did not win a state baseball title between 96-99.
