Wow, shame on anyone who doesn't believe that was a dirty hit. Why should the fact that Oregon is a "cool" school cloud your judgement?

The worst part is the fans booing the ref. terrible.
The player laughing about intentionally head hunting a 1AA player after being ejected might have been the worst part.

Look at this at the 17 sec mark. His shoulder hit his head. In any case, head to head or shoulder to head he should be ejected, per the new rules. Of course, Aliotti disagrees.
As for the fans booing...any fanbase is going boo this when it happens to their team. Dude was going for a first down as a runner.
Personally, I hope they do nothing different next time. The secondary is deep enough that we can afford an ejection and I'd rather stop first downs than hold up and have a qb juke you or worse lower a shoulder and plow my guy.

Defenders are required to treat a sliding runner as they would a runner who is down by contact. A defender must pull up when a runner begins a feet-first slide. This does not mean that all contact by a defender is illegal. If a defender has already committed himself, and the contact is unavoidable, it is not a foul unless the defender commits some other act, such as helmet-to-helmet contact or by driving his forearm or shoulder into the head or neck are of the runner.
You do know that is an NFL rule and there is no "simple down touch" in the NCAA.....

He hit him with his shoulder. 90% of DBs tackle low with their head like that.
That's about as helmet to helmet as it gets.

I wish someone that has the ability to freeze frame it and post a picture of the head to head. I see their heads side by side with his shoulder in his head.

I do know it is an NFL rule but a sliding QB is a sliding QB no matter the level. Pop Warner, high school college or pros. He wasnt head first diving for more yards. He wasnt up right getting to the first down marker.mhe was mid-fricking-slide making himself a defenseless player.
What is so hard to understand about that concept? ANY unnecessary contact on a defenseless player is unnecessary roughness, and under the new rule targeting a defenseless player.
ThugPOS
Duck fan - shoulder to helmet = helmet to helmet or forearm to helmet. Any hit to the head is going to get rung up

That hit is dirty as frick
Regardless of his head getting thrown, the QB was sliding. Easy call and the right one

After watching the game I thought he got him with the shoulder. He said he got him with the shoulder. I can't really tell on this clip. Angles are bad in some and Brian Jackson #12 is the way on the other.
I knew he was a goner from the moment it happened though. Shoulder to head or head to head, it's all the same in the new rule.

Your intentions are irrelevant I don't have a lot of sympathy for players and the new rule. You know the rule, so avoid questionable hits and you're fine. Most of these guys are top notch athletes, and as such, should be able to make a simple adjustment when a player becomes defenseless. Hit with your head up and you'll be fine.
