The Braves are Astros waste management! Go Braves!

You finally decide to show yourself for this

Our window didn't close after losing Springer and Verlander. Yordan and Tucker are under control for awhile so they just become the new core to build around. We are a few good FA signings (pitching, OF) away from being just as competitive as the last 5 years
It's meaningless before anything happens in free agency, but we are currently 2nd behind the dodgers for 2022 world series odds

Was that the sound of the Astros’ window closing?
No.
The Astros are potentially losing the following players:
Justin Verlander, pitched one game the last two seasons.
Zach Greinke, has faded into a bullpen/opener piece.
Marwin Gonzales, no loss here.
Kendall Graveman, would be great to re-sign him, he would be missed.
Yimi Garcia, no loss here, he's a league-average sort of reliever.
Carlos Correa, obviously will be a big loss.
So, losing Correa (assuming he signs elsewhere which he probably will) is the biggest loss, but there are a lot of free agents out there and the Astros will have a lot of money coming off the books with Verlander and Greinke.
There's no reason they won't be back in the same position next season, especially with the possibility of expanded playoffs.

Yes, Correa has been singlehandedly holding the window open for six years.

All that is likely true. And as talented as Corea is, he’s not worth what he’s gonna get paid. It seems like we keep airing for him to turn into one of the best 2-3 players in baseball, but at this point, he is who he is, which is still very good, but not worth $250 million.
But honestly, if the window is closed, having been shitty for so long, is the 1 World Series worth it? I suffered through the terrible 80s Braves teams, and enjoyed the shite out of the 90s, even though we on won the 1 in ‘95 before last night. It’s hard to win championships, and I’ve always enjoyed the yearly rides. I probably have a different perspective going through the terrible 80s and had a better appreciation for the run they went on. As opposed to some younger fans who only know the Braves in the playoffs. But you guys had some very meek years too before this run, do you feel the same way? Or is 1 not enough? Or are we still too close to have an objective perspective?

Good riddance to Correa. Let some other idiot pay him 25M. We need pitching.

This too, but 5 straight ALCS appearances is still fun. 5 straight years (and 6 out of 7) with playoff baseball is fun.
And I think the Astros will be back in the playoffs next year as well. I don't think the window is closed, they aren't losing enough for it to close entirely.
Plus, expanded playoffs are coming sooner rather than later.

Haven't really done much research have you?

Lifetime fan here…you nailed it perfectly. Sure it stings to lose the WS but any Astros fan who isn’t enjoying this run is either too young or lacks perspective. These are truly golden years. Very similar to LSU. Sucks what is going on presently but how many schools would give their left nut for the 20 year run we had from 2000 and obviously not all of those ended in championships.

At this point I've seen almost every team I really follow win a championship.
LSU Baseball has 6 in my lifetime.
LSU Football has 3 in my lifetime.
The Saints and Astros each have 1 so far in my lifetime.
LSU Basketball is the only one that doesn't, and really they are nowhere close to the same level as LSU Football/Saints/Astros for me.
It could be a lot worse.

Nah, I’m in Houston about 4 months out of the year for work, and honestly all I ever hear about on sports radio while there is the Texans.
Sorry.
Sorry.

That 2019 team was awesome though.
3 aces on the staff. Screw Hinch for pulling Greinke.
The only reason to pull Greinke would be to put in an already warmed up Cole.

Every single bit of this. I was well into my 20’s before any of them won anything, which makes it that much sweeter.

Well he was 3rd in the AL in slugging and OPS... will almost certainly be top 10 in MVP voting. Tucker was probably the best hitter on the team.

You're listening to the wrong station. 790 AM is the one.
