This will likely be the biggest sports story of 2014.

That is VERY doubtful. Possible.....but doubtful.

This is comparable to someone like Albert Belle (can't think of an equally tempermental star in today's game) beating an unknown middle reliever to death in the middle of a game with a baseball bat because the reliever threw at him.

I agree with most of what you're saying. However, I disagree with your last point. While I'm sure Stewart is a fricking moron, even a fricking moron knows that driving a car at someone would cause death at that speed.

Considering he had a full lap to calm himself down, I don't see how this isn't blatant 2nd degree murder. Now he will never get charged with that, and I understand that prosecutors have to be conservative if they want to win), but it was definitely intentional.

I'm a huge soccer fan, and I'll agree that is the international sports story of the year. But for the US, it has to be this.

Well, that should be the end of Stewart's career, regardless of how much prison time he will serve. It will be a complete miscarriage of justice if he doesn't get a hefty prison sentence though.

Prison??? He won't even see a courtroom.

How is it anything other than what I just said?

Unless you want to call it a single A reliever in a rehab assignment for Belle. I guess that would be the only possible legitimate complaint.

nah more like belle is batting and knew his teamate (who just flipped him off) was stealing home. He intentionally swings at the pitch and makes sure to smash his teamate in the head, killing him

I think he initially got pissed when he sees some kid waving his finger and yelling at THE Tony Stewert and his ego and temper got the best of him. I don't think he was angry when he initially wrecked him.

b/c accidentally hitting someone with your car is different than beating someone with a bat

You have to be kidding. Tony Stewart is one of the most successful and respected drivers in history of NASCAR and you think he would intentionally kill a driver that he just put into the wall?

We don't live in 18th Century Europe, guys.

While I have my doubts about how much time Stewart will serve (if at all), there will be civil suits for years. And there will likely be a serious criminal proceeding as well.
