Everybody hates the new cars. Guess whatever driver’s union they have is worthless

It’s sad because I think the vehicle itself is a step in the right direction but they fricked up the power unit formula so bad it’s hurting the brand.

The engine/energy is pretty easy to sort. I have faith the FIA and teams will get the right combo over time. Week 3 is already much better than Week 1 on that front. The more data the better the energy problem will get.

It is kindof comical we ended up here as a compromise. The teams fought each other so hard that instead of no one being ahead everyone is behind.

Why is this news?

Did he retire or not?

So dumb.

IROC ran all NASCAR ovals IIRC, so it definitely favored the Cup guys.

Nope.

I watched every GP from 1994 until I missed a couple in 2024, and a lot in 2025.

I will be watching zero until quite a few things change.

IROC would run 1 road course per season from 1973-1991. No road courses from 1992-2005. 1 Daytona road course race in final 2006 season.

Ray Evernham owns a bunch of the IROC cars.

He said it’s not because of his place in the grid. It’s the way the car drives.

He sounds just like Lewis Hamilton the last couple of years.

That's what Kyle Busch says too, and I don't believe him either. These guys want to win.

Peter Windsor was saying that the understeer in the car works against Max’s driving style.

Does he?
Max has only complained about the formula. Which is what almost everyone is complaining about. He just wants to go fast. There are no people defending it except Russell and Mercedes.

So max is out in front of what 98% of people are complaining about. he's just won championships and is visible.

That doesn't sound like Lewis at all.

He complained about the car, the schedule, not being fun to drive, etc.

Sounds like a typical champion when they don't have the best car. Now he is floating retirement talk.

If I remember correctly he was extremely vocal a few years ago about these changes and the potential negative impact. These cars are garbage, everyone except for Mercedes and Lewis (who is basically still
Mercedes) have said so. I think max is just trying to leverage his popularity to get the necessary changes that F1 needs because right now I am watching indycar nxt races more than F1

Red Bull knew it was an engine formula and knew they wouldn't be prepared for it.

What's sad is that Max knew and his team still dropped the ball on the formula.

Like he said, whoever builds the best engine will have an advantage. Would probably mean you want to build the best engine. Merc and Ferrari did.

Max is like Doc Holliday in Tombstone. Nobody is faster, or better, but the character is full of hubris, quips and a likeable personality that loves to win.

I think this is one of F1's biggest selling points. You never know going into a season who is going to be fast. The flip side is that whoever is fast stays fast all year, so theres very little movement in the results race by race

Imagine if you bought a super expensive high performance sports car and half the time the thing doesn't go like you expect when you step on the accelerator because the battery is being recharged. It would be maddening.

Probably didn't help to oust the team principal in the middle of development.

Not if you use an large fuel line that will hold an extra gallon of fuel.

They were given extra development time because they were a new engine manufacturer. Despite building engines for multiple years.

Still dropped the ball.
