Y'all are all over the map on this.

I'm sorry if this makes me automatically a despicable person but yes a female should do a little research before meeting a total stranger. Am I judging them and thinking they are bad people and get what they deserve if they don't? No, but do I find it naive and a little ignorant? Yes. Was I naive and a little ignorant when I was young? Yes. Does the fact that I did it make a difference in my opinion of whether it's smart or not? No.

And the real kicker-- do we even have any idea how the gal in the op and the dude who killed her met? If not, why are we discussing meeting someone online and in a bar?

It doesn’t make her (or would it make you) any less a victim or make her responsible for his crazy arse behavior. Which is what has been suggested in this thread.

Stalkers have become anamored with women without even going on a date with them. For all we know, they hung out briefly and when she found out he was lying she cut him off. Even I’ve had to do that before and it wasn’t because I was naive. It was because the guy lied about having a kid (can’t really get that from an ID).

finally someone else in this thread has brought this up. We have no idea on the actual extent of their relationship, just that it was romantic in nature and that could mean a million different things with varying levels of intimacy. Especially when shite lasts maybe a month like reported. For all we know, she went on a few dates, did have a friend check on him, and then dumped him when she found out

Based on what we know, she was the brainy one between the two. Unless I missed where she made bad decisions in her past, prior to this point she looked the part of good decision maker.

-D1 track star at good university, mom a professor at a university, etc.

It's not her fault she's dead, but she obviously made missteps. The two are not mutually exclusive.

The mom specifically said they had dated for a month.

Jill McCluskey also said her daughter had “previously dated her killer for about one month” before she ended the relationship on Oct. 9 after learning of Rowland’s criminal history. McCluskey also said that Rowland harassed her daughter after the breakup.

Right.

A month could easily be met at a bar/online app (what most college kids do these days). Go out 3-4 times on the weekends or whenever she’s free (being an athlete she’s not going to have much time for it in season). Maybe sleep together depending on if that’s your thing or not.

And women shouldn’t have been afraid of Ed Kemper, John Wayne Gacy, Ted Bundy, etc. because white guys just don’t do that.

Completely agree, and I thought I covered that when I said does it make someone a bad person or mean they would deserve bad things to happen to them. I meant to anyway.

Exactly, we have no idea on that so all the random analogies at this point are hooey.

Probably because theres more white men than any other race.

Now what % of white men turn out to be abusers, rapists, etc. Is probably more indicative.

You’re not. They have the highest number of domestic violence incidents in most all reporting systems (Department reported data and victim-survey). If it’s weighted by population distribution it’s American Indian.

We know she dated the guy for a month. Not really "brief" thing given the dating world of today.

At work, through a friend or family member, at the grocery store, in an elevator, grabbing a cup of coffee etc...
