One of the biggest surprises to me thus far is the protection both QBs are getting from their O-line. I figured this first season o-line play would be pretty bad. That’s how it usually goes in these start-up leagues, especially early on.

I live a little north of B’ham. From what I have seen there is decent Support so far. I planned to go to this game but the forecast changed that. I think considering the weather plus (1) Easter weekend and (2) today was also Bama’s A-Day, this is a really good crowd.
I'm originally from Birmingham, so go there every few months to visit family. I went to a UAB game and the Auburn / Houston bowl game at the stadium. It is a great stadium with very nice amenities, including the surrounding area.

That comment was short lived.

We were at the AU v. Houston game. You’re right, it’s a really nice stadium. It’s pretty amazing what they’ve done with the whole Uptown area.

I’ll say the branding of this spring league makes it seem more legit than the Alliance or the XFL.

So far this is very watchable football. The play and speed on the field reminds me of elite college level, CFP level. Amazing that they are doing these Bios and a lot of the players are 8-10 yrs removed from their college years.
Its only halfway through first quarter of the season but I feel like this USFL has a high ceiling they can achieve. Hopefully non-Birmingham Stallions games can keep play and viewership up. I can see sponsorship and money increasing with this type of football.

Well I hope our QB is ok.

Hopefully this attempt at a Spring league lasts for a while. Birmingham has had a team in just about every one of them. Their fans feel a bit like a girl that keeps getting left at the alter.

The reason B’ham keeps getting a team in these start-up leagues is we always have good fan support. There’s a lot of people in Alabama who really want professional football to make it here.

The general's QB has such a weak arm

Crowd doesn’t look too bad. There’s even a good amount in the upper deck now.

Why does that guy have one of those dental floss/tooth pick things in his mouth?

I remember him being pretty good in the AAF. I was surprised he wasn't included in the initial USFL draft. He was brought to the Generals late, after they decided to can the QB they drafted.

Seems like a great way to choke to death.

I wonder if next year an idea wouldn't be to save money to keep saving money to keep the "all games happen in one place" theme going but expand to two or three football towns that lack an NFL team?
Birmingham and
San Antonio
St Louis
Oklahoma City
Omaha
Des Moines
San DIego or Fresno for California
Akron by the Hall of Fame for the upper Midwest
Just a thought

That stadium has a lot of good places to watch the game other than your seat. The concourses are very wide with televisions everywhere. There are also high top tables along the concourses where you can sit, eat your food and watch. At the games I went to, a lot of people didn't appear to ever find their way to their seat. Admission to these games are general admission for most of the seats, so there will be a lot of people wandering around.
