I think it was smart bringing back the old teams. Fans care as much (or more) about the uniforms as the players or talent level and there’s built-in nostalgia.
Put Trent Richardson in an Alabama uniform and 100,000 people are there and many more on TV. Put him in a Birmingham Iron uniform and no one gives a shite.

The only thing I don't like about it is trying to do research. If I am trying to find something about one of the 1st gen teams and do a google search I get the new teams and vice versa.
