It's amazing how guys like Lynch and Christian Hackenberg ended up being high draft picks, but can't even play in leagues like the AAF and USFL.

Besides that the NFL disdain for USFL would have never allowed it

Hackenberg never lived up to the hype in college either. No idea why he was drafted high.

More security Guards in the stands than spectators

I knew this early game would have poor attendance. First it’s Easter Sunday, and remember this is Alabama after all where even many of the ones who don’t normally go to church weekly will at least go on Easter and Christmas. Second there wasn’t just rain coming through this morning but pretty heavy thunderstorms. And on top of all that, the vast majority of people in Birmingham and the surrounding area who care enough about football to attend a USFL game are by in large naturally going to be fans of the hometown team and thus went to their game last night.

So what's going on here anyways. Why is a game between a team based in Houston and a team in Detroit playing a game on Easter in Birmingham? How is this supposed to be viable?

I think the league will do well. Already planning on a couple of Breakers games. Marcus Dupree GOAT!

A Sumlin led team blowing a big lead? I am shocked. Shocked, I tell you!

I think the plan is to play this first season in a “pod” system similar to what the NBA did recently. After this season they will play in their respective cities. I think they’re doing it to minimize cost while they get the league going.

That makes more sense than both teams traveling to a random city every week. Thanks for the info.

I feel like the only way an alternative league could work is for a billionaire to fund it at a loss for a few years.

If you're having to start out playin gall games in Birmingham Alabama to "save costs," that really isn't a good sign. How much money can they possibly be making when there's like 5 fans in attendance?

With 41 games to go, there are going to be a lot played with nobody in the stands. TV ratings are what matters in the long run.

Yep. Fans in the stands don't really mean a whole lot these days when it comes to league income.
