You're the only one I've ever come across that has taken it that negatively. It's not like I was going "OMG YOU MISSPELLED A WORD YOU'RE SO STUPID LOL." That would have warranted a more defensive reaction.
I just said I didnt take you for a grammar smack type. Jesus man. You keep telling me to calm down and thats kind of funny.

Yes.
Im far from wound up. I really dont understand why you keep saying that.

Well, I guess you're on the same page with most of us.
Is there a specific number of teams the MLS is trying to get to? It'd be cool to have a team in LA

I think this is a good thing and will only benefit the league going forward.
Yea.
And lets face it, the league will never be as popular as it can be if some of the best players in the world are not home grown to stock the league. You can bring in as many,in their prime, superstars from around the world but unless there are Americans in that mix it will never see its potential.

It really shouldn't bother you as much as it apparently does

Glad to amuse you right along

I actually just said you were being abrasive earlier

Because we've talked many times before without going around the horn on silly little shite like this.
You like soccer more than I do. I don't think it will overtake the NBA in popularity like you do. We'll both continue to be avid fans of varied sports.
The End.

True.
And I honestly believe this will improve going forward.

Only thing we agreed about in this thread I think

We have both done our share of parsing, tbh

Nah, we're closer to being on the same page than you think.
I believe soccer will eventually overtake hockey. Not sure how quickly or slowly, but given the regional nature of hockey, I think it's bound to happen.
I also agree that the MLS will continue to increase in popularity, especially as more homegrown players become prime stars.

I took a week of vacation, starting today, and taking the rest at the end of July. Im bored and slightly buzzed.

Enjoy the vacay
Wifey and I took a vacation to Orlando last month and it was so desperately needed. Didn't want to come back to work, tbh.

David Villa, Thierry Henry, Beckham, Kaka, Julio Cesar all have, do play, or will be playing in the MLS. Yes you can make an argument for aging players, but you can't argue against how good they are. 99% of world-wide teams would take those players onto their teams when the MLS have gotten/will get them.
over paying for old guys past their prime is used to create fan fair.

Give it time and it should be looked at no worse than the Brazilian league.
that means american talent will a huge jump in terms of quality. B/c those brazilian players in europe almost all get their start at home.

I read about 2 pages, and no one has mentioned the amount of immigrants contributing to this as well. They probably don't ever watch NBA or MLB but I'm sure they all tuned into most of these soccer matches.
I'm not a soccer fan, but of course I'm going to watch the US play on a Sunday when there's nothing else to watch of importance

The only way soccer will break into the top 2 sports in Anerica is if everyone just stops watching the NFL because rule changes turn it to flag football and parents of any talented kid stop them playing for potential health reasons.
Otherwise 3rd is the best it can hope for with NhL being pretty regionalisd and MLB having an ageing fan base and it falling popularity with youngsters. But 3rd in the American market is great and the little brother syndrome v haters can stop then
As the MLS grows they should introduce lower leagues and relegation/promotion, while I'm not sure how that would work with the draft etc. It's something that makes league more exciting

Disclaimer: I hate soccer..and frankly think that if you are from a first world country and make this your number one sport, I think less of them.
That being said, soccer will continue to grow and become more popular due to the ease of access that everyone has now in respect to this sport. 15 years ago, you could get the scores off the internet of the EPL, Bundesliga, etc, and that was it. But now folks can see it on regular tv, soccer channels on Directtv, stream it live, etc.
As someone who lives in DC, soccer is huge in this community, but really propped up by the El Salvdorans and Hondurans here, but you can see increase as DC United has done a good job at getting more youths to the game, which brings along the parents.
People do bring up attendance, but the seats are so much cheaper at the MLS games versus other sports. Not a perfect comparison, but the highest priced DC United season ticket is $1,729 and the cheapest Washington Cap ticket is around $1,300 for nosebleeds. And there are still many cheap tickets always being sold or given away to DC United games, which is smart, as they are trying to hook you.
So, the MLS has a long ways to go to catch up in revenue even if there numbers are up.

DC also has the shittiest stadium in MLS by far and has been the worst franchise for like five years now.
