Nah man. All I said was that soccer was growing and would catch the NHL soon and head towards the NBA.

And I said I disagree on the second part.

I have been fairly benign in this conversation.

Again, I must disagree.

And apparently that really bothered you. Again, you've talked to me before--my grammar druthers are more of a habit than an indictment. Playing on my homeschool/spelling bee background more than anything.

You'd be miserable if the Spurs weren't playing into late June every summer

THe NBA will be a long uphill climb but the NHL isnt nearly as popular as you give it credit. Especially in the high growth areas of the country.

The NBA has the best basketball players in the world. The NHL has the best hockey players in the world. The MLS has no where near the best soccer players in the world.

The MLS should work on becoming the most popular soccer league in America before worrying about being as popular as the NBA or NHL.

Im perfectly calm. I didnt take you for a grammar smack type of dude. Noted.

Again, settle down. I'm not anti-soccer.

What about me needs to settle down? Im just having a conversation on a message board. Im not anti NBA or NHL either, in fact, I enjoy and follow both.

You're being rather hasty in coming to abrasive conclusions.

Have you read this thread since my first rather benign post? Come on bro. They are coming from all sides because I had an opinion, including you. If anyone is defensive and abrasive its others.

Huh? Im fairly certain it is.

THe MLS is growing. IT will have to attract more top talent and move up the pecking order in league standing. Its all part of the process and it will take time. The NHL still isnt as popular as you are giving it credit for though, and thats coming from a HUGE hockey fan.

Then we are at an impasse on that point

And I didn't take you as one to have such a benign correction stick in your craw. All you had to say was something along the lines of "oops, autocorrect." Happens to everyone occasionally, including myself, but I've never seen the need to take offense to being corrected over spelling/grammar

No, haven't read any of this thread, actually.

Yeah, you had an opinion. Ours didn't align with yours. Debate has ensued.

That's because you live in a city with an MLS team. All of my friends that follow club soccer follow Premiere League teams

ETA: I also know for a fact that Premiere League has a better TV deal in the states than MLS

Regional thing, just not big in the south. I know a lot of people form the Northeast and they treat hockey like we treat college football. Overall in the US, hockey is still way head of soccer.

David Villa, Thierry Henry, Beckham, Kaka, Julio Cesar all have, do play, or will be playing in the MLS. Yes you can make an argument for aging players, but you can't argue against how good they are. 99% of world-wide teams would take those players onto their teams when the MLS have gotten/will get them.

Getting aging superstars isn't going to help that much. Need more young talent IMO.

I know its becoming more popular but I just don't see it right now as on the brink of overtaking the NHL and NBA

Yea, probably.

Meh. Its a form of ad hominem.

It will get a reaction during discourse. Dont act so "surprised" that it did with me.

Yea, just shooting the shite. I have been called "absurd", "insane" among other things but Im the one who's wound up?

Yea, that happens on message boards.

Meh, Im not even sure where you are going with this. I can handle things fine around here. I dont think anyone is overly abrasive compared to normal. You brought it up to begin with.

MLS will catch the NHL soon to very soon in ratings and attendance. Hell, it may even beat the NHL on an average/game based scale. It will then move towards the NBA and overtake that league in 10-15 years.

You're the only one I've ever come across that has taken it that negatively. It's not like I was going "OMG YOU MISSPELLED A WORD YOU'RE SO STUPID LOL." That would have warranted a more defensive reaction.

MLS franchises are creating academies and refining academies to funnel young talent into the league. The MLS wasn't created just to become the best league in the world. Part of its focus from US Soccer Federation was to develop and funnel talent into the USMNT. Having these talented aging players in the league helps the young talent learn by playing against and with them.

I think this is a good thing and will only benefit the league going forward.
