Huh? Im fairly certain it is.
THe MLS is growing. IT will have to attract more top talent and move up the pecking order in league standing. Its all part of the process and it will take time. The NHL still isnt as popular as you are giving it credit for though, and thats coming from a HUGE hockey fan.

That's because you live in a city with an MLS team. All of my friends that follow club soccer follow Premiere League teams
ETA: I also know for a fact that Premiere League has a better TV deal in the states than MLS

Regional thing, just not big in the south. I know a lot of people form the Northeast and they treat hockey like we treat college football. Overall in the US, hockey is still way head of soccer.

MLS franchises are creating academies and refining academies to funnel young talent into the league. The MLS wasn't created just to become the best league in the world. Part of its focus from US Soccer Federation was to develop and funnel talent into the USMNT. Having these talented aging players in the league helps the young talent learn by playing against and with them.
I think this is a good thing and will only benefit the league going forward.
