Jones had some excuses injuries were way down the list. Honestly some of his excuses were legit but really his biggest downfall was not hiring better assistant coaches after Kingston left.

Doesn't shock me. Its actually surprising that SLU has been more consistently good. Good facilities for their level and imo what their biggest advantage is. Geographically they have a leg up on everyone they compete with for recruits. A hour from New Orleans and Baton Rouge. Gulf coast all the way to the panhandle is a eay drive as is south Mississippi. Plenty of talent to pick from to build a team.

i'll say this... Nicholls by beating ULL and sweeping NW State on the road (and a few wins in the SLC tourney) might make things interesting.

that midweek Feb. win in the Box still counts in late May. they'd be second in the SLC with a good top 100 record, playing great ball as of late. they also have series victories over Stony Brook and Utah, and a single game over North Florida

of course if they win the tournament they'll steal someone's bid. will it be SLU's or someone else's?

The Southland has had multiple picks in the past so I'm hoping my Demons can sweep Nicholls, do well in the tourney and earn a bid. Also hoping last weekend against Notre Dame earned us some good will. Unfortunately NSU has been screwed over by the selection committee a few times in the past and we aren't nearly as strong now as we were then.

I do think the best bet for the SLC getting two bids is NSU winning the tourney and then SLU getting an at-large.

All we need is one win over Nicholls to clinch the 2 seed in the tourney and I don't see Nicholls sweeping us.

UNO is pretty bad so I don't see SLU having a problem with them.

I wouldn't know. Last year I had weekly updates on how well the Cajuns were doing. This year.... birds chirping. Maybe it's time to dump Robichaux and hire Lotief and his wife to run the baseball program.

Hey GC, the last time LSU lost to Nicholls, they won a NC.

So I'm prepared to myself.

They won't, unless they win Southland Conf. Tournament. Nicholls has the pitching to win it, but Southeastern is the best, most balanced team. I'll pull for which ever team(s)from Southland conf. making the Tournament.

I expect either Nicholls or NW St. to win the SLC tournament.

2-bid league once again!

that's the only way Southland gets two in, unfortunately. Stoneybrook gets in, and Nicholls took 2 of 3 from them.

Don't go 0-2 in the tourney. That's all I'll say. Win a game and hopefully two.

Aaron Fitt just now: "I don't know that they can. With a No. 42 RPI that would probably drop some in that scenario, and just an 0-5 mark against the top 50, I think Southeastern needs to win a couple of games this week to secure its position."

AAC is #3 League and Tulane finished 3rd. If the win today didn't seal it (it should have been sealed after last week's series win) then the whole thing makes no sense.

Tough loss for the Colonels. Ragins need to win their tourney, which they very well may do.

Tulane is in.

SLU better win tomorrow or they are out.

Louisiana schools, and the top 3 seeds, are 0-3 in the SLC tourney so far.

Make it 0-4 for LA schools in Sugar Land.

Two will be sent home tomorrow. SLU dropped all the way to 49 in the RPI with that one loss. Lions better beat McNeese.
