Auto qualifiers are the 6 highest ranked conference champs. It doesn't say which conferences or anything like that, just the 6 that are ranked the highest.

I always loved the regional feel of CFB. You had all the B1G schools and some ACC schools with a couple SEC games at 11am, then you rolled into 1-2 big games for those conferences with the SEC and Big 12 in the 2:30 slot, then the biggest 3 games of the day in prime time and then you still had the Pac 12 games starting at 7-10 pm ct

It will still be the same teams, but the conferences are totally new

It's extremely stupid. The extra teams don't even increase the money for the existing schools. It's expansion for the sake of expansion.

20 teams is so unwieldy that the schools will barely feel like they are in the same conference.

That....and/or if the ACC collapses and Notre Dame needs a new conference for all of their other sports, the B1G could tell them they either join the conference for football too or they can't join at all. Then ND's only halfway decent option to remain a football independent would be to join the Big East.

I remind them that the BIG added Rutgers and Maryland, that the ACC signed a shitty TV deal for like 20 years, that the Pac 12 screwed up expansion about 5 other times and turned their noses up at many programs, including BYU, Baylor, TCU, Oklahoma State and others.

None of these people know what is going on. The majority of conference changes have been bad, or at least neutral, both from the conference and the school perspective.

The shitty TV deal that Florida State is mad about was agreed to by them, in giddy fashion. They thought they had killed a fat hog at the time. But changes come fast.

These 20-team conferences will regret this in short order.

While not good at football, those are two of the most heavily populated areas of the country so that got the B1G footprint to an additional 30 million people. I'm not saying even 35% have cable which includes the B1G network, but adding the network to 5 million homes (1/6 of the total) brings in tons of cash on an annual basis.

Some cord cutting had already began a decade ago, but it's really intensified over the past 5 years or so I would say. So is it worth it through 2200? maybe not but it has probably brought in tons of cash since 2014
