Also losing Johnson will definitely make them look different next few seasons
Maybe that's their reason for moving back down as they won't be able to hang with 4A-5A teams any longer, but I'd bet money they won't lose a district game in the next 5 years if they stay at 2A.

Exactly. Norte Dame killed Welsh and Welsh killed Lake Arthur this year. LCA will easily put 70+ on any of those teams. Undersized kids at those schools are definitely going to get hurt playing LCA.

Second draft of districts revealed… we appealed yesterday and now it looks like it’s us, Salmen, Slidell, Northshore, and Fontainebleau

Ok, how does 9-5A work?
It is 11 teams in the district, although Dominican and Mt Carmel are all-girl. Are they assuming Warren Easton will be unable to participate and are just throwing them in there for completeness?
IIRC, Parkview, Dunham (then Chapel Trafton), and a few other schools were marked as in certain districts in the 90s but had the caveat “not playing for district honors” on them.
This was around the time those schools had been in the abortive LISA organization, IIRC.

Chapelle, Dominican, Mount Carmel: all girls
Rummel, Jesuit, BM, HC, St Aug: all boys
Curtis, Karr, Easton: coed

So they are splitting Fountainbleu from Mandeville and Covington... interesting.
I wonder if St Tammany School Board will fight now to keep them all together.
5 team district would have us with 6 non-district games. Hopefully can schedule some good ones. Keep HC and need 5 more.
Karr and WE to the Catholic League... Ben Franklin to the JP district.

That’s why I said Karr, Easton, Chalmette, Slidell, Salmen, Northshore… they can’t possibly tell me the rivalries are THAT big with the Slidell schools and Hammond and Ponchatoula
Posted on 11/14/23 at 1:57 pm to chalmetteowl
If the rivalries are that big they’ll still play

Eventually their gravy train (state funds…..) will come to a halt and they’ll go back to being what they were before, and that’s a school that barely fielded athletic teams. They’re taking advantage of a situation provided by the state but they’re using it in a way that it’s not intended for.

Can you elaborate? I'm not doubting you, just don't know the background here.

Ponchy and Hammond are not in st Tammany… but splitting Northshore from Mandeville Covington etc would be interesting.
Not sure where salmen fits in since they have been 4A for a bit

Salmen is 5A next year

They get money from the state to “assist” kids that live in “poverty”. They use that money in the form of “tuition assistance” which is basically giving someone a free ride. The thing is the bulk of that assistance just so happens to be verrrry selectively used on certain kids/demographics that can throw, catch, run with, and dribble a football or basketball.
Keep in mind that no one knew anything about lca until just a few years ago when they all of the sudden started winning overnight, literally. That pastor at that church is slicker than a frogs arse with what he’s doing.
I know for fact that they reached out to two other private schools in the Acadiana area to see if they would be interested for lca to show them how to get better athletes by way of free money from the state. The crazy thing is that it’s not exactly illegal but highly unethical because the monies are ultimately being used to recruit for athletics and not for academics. Before they found that gravy train that athletic program was considered homecoming games for their opponents. All of that information comes from one of the administrators at one of the two schools that were approached to do this. They may have approached more but I can’t confirm that.
And a few lca parents are getting a little more vocal about what the “mission” of the school truly is. It’s coming to a head….

I would expect that the 2 northshore districts would probably try and schedule a couple teams from the other district.

JP to the confirmed cheaters:
(we can only wish)
Warren Easton has audacity
quote:
Warren Easton is up next with three proposed ideas to replace current placement in Catholic League.
quote:
1st proposal: Return to previous placement within District 10 that includes public schools in New Orleans
Karr, Easton, Bonnabel, WJ, EJ, Ehret, Higgins, Riverdale
2nd proposal: Redistrict schools in NOLA (mainly public) based on geographical location of schools.
Karr, Higgins, WJ, Ehret, Chalmette
Easton, EJ, Bonnabel, Riverdale, Ben Franklin
3rd proposal: Redistrict schools (regardless of type of school) based on the geographical location of schools.
Easton, Karr, St Aug, BM, HC, Jesuit, Ben Franklin
Rummel, John Curtis, EJ, WJ, Bonnabel, Ehret, Higgins, Riverdale (no more Catholic League)
quote:
After hearing from schools, the floor is opened to any other members wishing to speak. Several Jefferson Parish public schools principals gather together to support a move to consider these proposals.
