Bryant Vincent needs to be in consideration for national coach of the year if ULM keeps this up.

He won’t be in Monroe long either, if they keep it up. 3-4 years like Napier was for us, then he gone.

Better then going 3-9 for 4 years and getting canned. Like ULM coaches usually do

That was a fun watch. I record all ncaa football on YouTubeTV. Hit the key plays feature on this one to see General Booty in action. Got something better instead, but I was worried at the end they would let JMU beat them with a field goal. Good for the Warhawks.

These companies need to step up and do their part... plus the community needs to show up... I've said this on here for years...

Best DII schools
I'd love to see Tulane join The SEC again

I completely agree, which is why I hate hearing our fanbase talk about wanting to coach who "wants to be here and not leave".
I'll gladly take consistent 9-12 win seasons replacing a head coach every 3 to 4 years.

They won't. The support is all going to Tiger Stadium.

Very true about young good coaches that do well at the lower level. They are always poached. Napier is a perfect example. That is why I was hoping Coach Bowden would have had better success. He seemed to put down in roots in Monroe and as much as the town gets shite on here, he honestly seemed to enjoy it. He went to my folks church and would literally be in attendance every Sunday even after away games and even attended a men’s retreat with us. I thought even if he turned ULM around he would probably stay but obviously the school went in a different direction that seems to be a damn good decision.
I wish the program luck. ULM fans deserve to have a winner. In 2012 they beat a #4 Arkansas and made a bowl game. Interest in the program and school blew up. Hoping this success carries over and they make a bowl this year because it has been a drought.

Centurylink was one of the only companies giving them big $ but that quit after the merger with level 3 and the ousting of all the old Monroe board of supervisors. I’m guessing Sols Pipe & Steel, Car Dealers are their main donors.
They need to do a better job of marketing to families in the city to join their athletic foundation. There is a ton of money in and around Monroe. For example my family has been in Monroe for 100+ years, has multiple businesses etc. I had to reach out to ULM to join the athletic club and get season tickets again(Alumni BTW). Their marketing team should be annoying the hell out of the community on ticket sales and donations, instead you have to seek them out it’s strange.

Texas State did a HUGE push this past summer not just in San Marcos, but San Antonio and Austin regions as well. It was impressive and I believe worked well.
Don’t know about ULM, but I know UL’s athletic department and administration would never put forth such effort in Acadiana. Lazy asses.

I always heard it was wrote in the charter that at least one person on the board had to be from OakGrove/Monroe...
Marketing is terrible always has been it's getting better though... annual game with LA Tech has to established... it makes to much sense for local economy and interest...

Do you know anyone in the athletic department? I have a pretty good marketing idea they might be interested in.

If you are established in Monroe than you know full well that most of Northside Monroe gives very little interest in ULM. Although I live in Houston, I am still plugged into our men’s retreat ministry through my former church and honestly I don’t think one dude has a kid that goes to ULM and I am talking a bunch of North Monroe guys. Maybe there is more interest from the more rural parts of NE LA? I don’t know? However, the overwhelming majority are obviously LSU fans/supporters with most of the remainder being Tech and maybe a handful of Ole Miss. This is pretty sad considering that Coach Bowden really integrated himself into the Monroe scene, actually chased Monroe area recruits, and didn’t seem to be using ULM as a stepping stone. With that being said, my take is they just need to put a winning product on the field and it needs to be consistent. As I posted earlier, their lone winning season since they moved up to Div 1 in 2012 blew up admissions and interest in the program and that was just 1 season. Imagine if they did a few back to back seasons.

North Monroe Baptist?
ETA: I think the school has the right people in place to capitalize on this. Heck even having Friday Ellis as mayor is a positive. I can se him actually caring and trying. Ain’t no way mayo would’ve given two craps.

Not North Monroe Baptist but I know pretty much all those guys. They have attended several of our retreats. Honestly, we all pretty well spawned from the ACTS program.
I absolutely agree with you that the perfect storm for ULM to capitalize on this success is right now. Just wish it would be consistent and that is the concern. I think I heard last night on TV that they had like 70 new players. That level of turnover can’t be conducive to being consistent but that is me. I wish ULM could build a base out of mostly local kids and not have to rely so much on Jucos and outside talent but hey, this strategy seems to be working right now.

Makes sense.
I was about to ask if you knew Seth hall.
Yea it sucks but some of that is just the world we live right now with college athletics unfortunately. I think Vincent has (obviously) done the best job of any of our recent run of coaches in putting together a competitive squad in today’s climate. That’s step one in getting some of the local talent interested in staying.

I think someone is cutting onions nearby! Having gone to school there in the best of the Wreck Tech days and gone back for games during the Stan Humphries championship year, this did my heart good!
